> NOW ACCESSING 'MAKING A LIVING: REPAIRING'...

The first step in any repair job is to make sure you have the tools. The most important tool for any technician is the electronics toolkit which can be purchased from Shavcire. Just look at the MENU. The toolkit is pretty pricey, so you might have to mooch from another player or check out another of the salary options open to a technician.

Once you have a toolkit, you'll need something to repair. Communicator integrity chips are good for starters and when you get a little older, you can do more and more complicated repairs. For now, we'll just concentrate on chips. Hold the toolkit in one hand and the chip in the other and then REPAIR MY CHIP WITH MY TOOLKIT. Keep doing this until you get the message that, tada, the chip is completely repaired!

Don't assume that this will be an easy or a fast process! Low-tech chips are the quickest to repair and Advanced chips will take upwards to 10 minutes to repair. Maybe sure you let your customer know this.

If you're like Zap and I, you'll give an estimated cost to do the repairs beforehand unless you want to rely on the kindness of strangers. We suggest $500 for a low-tech chip repair. Feel free to have your own pricing scheme though.

Cyberwear can also can be repaired with a toolkit in the early stages of damage. However, as parts get more and more damaged, you'll need to return to Shavcire and access his MENU again to buy replacement part kits. APPRAISE your cyberpart to see how many repair kits you'll need and if you can do the repairs.

If you can't do the repairs, you can either find an older technician or take the gear to Shavcire to repair. WARNING! Shavcire charges a great deal for his expertise!
