> NOW ACCESSING 'MAKING A LIVING: ALCHEMY'...

Alchemy gets really annoying really fast, but it makes excellent money so it's worth talking about. You need to learn alchemy at the alchemy building. The more skilled you are, the more potions you can learn to make and the better the potions are that you can make (read, better bonuses).

First, buy the first tome and study it until you've memorized it. It will then appear when you type ALCHEMY so you don't need to worry about memorizing the parts. We'll use the Tinticure of Healing as the example since it's the easiest potion to learn. What it does when you drink it is restore a little of your vitality. It does NOT heal bruises or scrapes. That's the Life potion and gets easily confused for the Healing potion.

Second, go out and collect full bundles of your ingrediants. In this case, londrum, ivy, and dedlas seeds. You can find londrum in the caverns out the crystaline gate and ivy and dedlas seeds in the Zen Garden.

Third. Refine your bundles. Londrum needs to be CHOPped with a knife from the alchemy building. Ivy needs to be dried in a drying pouch, crushed in a mortar, and then boiled on a stove you can find in an alchemy lab (ASK HIXES ABOUT ROOM and then REGISTER COLOR LAB FOR (numbers of hours)). Dedlas seeds need to be crushed and the pressed into oil in a lab. There is a very good alchemy guide, including how to prepare commodites, at Kelesa's site.

Fourth, put all the ingredients in a flask. CAREFUL! You can not take things out of a flask once it's in there! LOOK in the flask to be sure you have 50 of each ingredient, then mix it together with a stirring rod. Tada! Potion!

Brokers can get you a GREAT price on potions. I suggest you make 5 or less of one potion at a time because the market may crash and you won't get much money at all for all that work!
