Currently levels are 30,000 experience each, so each level is of equal "value" to each character. What do you think of this arrangement? |
I like it as is. I'd rather have steady level "costs" so I don't have to worry about levels getting increasingly harder to get. |

I'd rather make my low levels more easily, even if it makes those higher levels really, really long to achieve. |

I don't have a strong opinion either way. |

What would probably happen if this drain rate was implimented in this engine, would be that exp would be granted retroactively based on how much you *would have* earned had this system been in play. _________________ "I'm not quiet...I'm plotting" |

What is so wrong if the newer people have an easier chance to catch up to you guys? From what I've been picking up, everyone will get reset at launch anyways. I think that the chart Trevor and Downtweak came up with is good, as it is, I don't have a spare 50 hours in my week, and I'm loving this game to death but one level per 2+ weeks is not fun, even when I'm only level 1. And I think it was rather selfish for those who had said they didn't think it was fair for those who had to 'tough it out' before. That's what happens when you beta a game, things change.

Just to clarify, Sentreri, experience isn't being wiped when we move over, unless you have less than 60K experience (this figure may change some before the move over). So for most people, everything will carry over.
However, the ones who were concerned about fairness seem to be happy now after I explained that I can convert all players to what they would have had if this change were in place from day one.
So IOW, I don't think your post actually addressed anyone or anything that's any long significant. <g> _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I went with option #2.
Im for leaving the required exp at 30,000 per level with an increased
drain rate at lower levels.
I dont see that it needs to be retro-active either.
I'll be proud to say " I earned my first few levels the hard way "
Do we not blaze thrails so that the going is easier for those who follow? _________________ Traythyn Darkwater

IMO the EXP should be easier to gain as a youngin'. It seems logical that when you're new at something you learn all sorts of things at a rapid pace. Its when you've been doing it for a while and learned most of the "base" elements that the subtle changes make a difference. I think a gradually increasing EXP amount would help reflect that.
Also, coming from a newie perspective, having it take over 25 hours IG to reach 2nd level is a bit disheartening for most. |

Jaymo, this is a pretty old topic, and the exp system has been changed since then. What it's talking about is it used to take 50 hours for every level. Because every level only pulsed 10 exp per minute. Now, the lower levels pulse more, thus it only takes 25 hours for newbies to level. Be happy. _________________ >ask librarian about books

one of the reasons i like the other way is its kinda like D&D or other roleplaying games like that, you gain quick at a low level ( like level 1 is 1000exp, level 2 3500, like that) but the higer levels take more and its often more fun to get there, i guess............ |
