Can this please be shut off? It's really obnoxious to try and get animal pelt X and have it take more time than necessary when they keep running away.

Confused

I wonder if the wearer of critter pelt x would disagree. Razz

true Wink

but i also see the argument of "well the materials become too easy to get" with the retort of "not like mined or foraged materials flee when people become a higher level" Razz

Creatures flee because it's an IC way to prevent people from farming the living hell out of resources. It can be more profitable to wipe out lower level creatures than challenging ones if there is nothing to mitigate that. Rather than artificially modify drop rates, we adding a more IC mechanic, fleeing.

I dislike having to spam-attack things with shoot head/shoot head/shoot head instead of using anything that gives them the chance to flee.

All flee does, for me, is force me to do things like not aim and always use my fastest attacks possible, which in turn actually causes me to have to act in the way that you seem to want to discourage.

I'd just rather not have to rush critter kills to get the materials to tailor something.

Beyond that, drop rates are modified, right? I know if my level 15 goes around killng chith, he's defnitely more likely to have them drop money/loot than if yaru did it.

I don't recall installing such a modification, but it's in the realm of possibility.

news 149

Code:
- 03/20/05: Step three is complete. The actual level (not skills or stats) of
the searcher vs. the searched creature will affect the rate of cash, box and
loose item drops. Higher level players receive a gradual bonus to finding
treasure so that the system is slightly more forgiving of "underhunting" but
massively hunting under one's level will yield very small amounts of treasure.
Since this modifier is based on level, characters up to level 100 will
continue to receive the gradual bonus to find loot despite having maxed their
combat skills in many cases at well below level 100.
