So I've always wondered about the way all kinds of junk fits into backpacks and stuff. Weight isn't the same thing as volume, which is what container space should be based off of. I think it would be cool if each item was given a weight as well as a volume. I know it might take a whole lot to do, and might not be worth doing in the current version of the game, but I would like to see something like that in Live maybe.
EDIT: Also, maybe have containers have a weight capacity as well, but have it be more like like, the durability and the craftsmanship of the item. Like, if you stuff to heavy of crap in a poorly made backpack, the seams could start to rip or something. _________________ >ask librarian about books

I think volume measurement tends to really complicate life and it isn't always realistic. I know those who played DR a while have seen items that mysteriously didn't fit in containers they should have, or saw large objects fit in ridiculously small containers. Standardizing weights has proven difficult enough to do in any game product I have experience with, let alone volumes. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I just thought of the idea looking in my backpack, and seeing 40 billion things in there, and it all fits because most of it has very little weight, such as clothing and such. Even military can't pack THAT well. My original thought was giving things size, like in items. Say like, ITEM A, and items of like size would be conisdered 1 item size. Something bigger would take up the space of 2 items, and so on like that. Then have containers have a certain item capacity. _________________ >ask librarian about books

i thought containers do have set amounts of what they can hold, item count wise. i think that was put in
ie: container X can hold 100 items, container Y hold 200, etc etc etc.
trevor talking about it in may '05

It did, but it takes a TON of items for that to happen. And that's just item number. If I put 500 inflated balloons into my backpack, it would probably let me until the item count was reached, because of their little weight, but there's no way a bunch of inflated balloons should fit into a backpack. _________________ >ask librarian about books

honestly, dealing with dimensions is obnoxious in DR, so i'd hate to deal with it in HR.
that said, if it was put into effect, at least there would be a reason for people to use things like sheaths, back harnesses, and so on. why a backpack can hold a bazooka i don't know. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!
