Thought I'd throw together a quick, pointless example of alchemy in work.
We're going to make an Infusion of Brilliance, which increases Intellect for a while. This requires some argurat pulp, some silver dust and a sirolei infusion.
[Testing Complex, Entrance] Welcome to the mad lab.
You also see a wooden sign, a trash can, an ingot shaver, a pressing tool, a large stove, some sirolei ivy, an ingot casting die, a large porcelain crucible, a stone mortar, an argurat fruit, a glass vial, a glass stirring rod, a glass flask, a drying pouch, a stone pestle and a silver nugget. You notice exits leading east, south, west, and northwest.
i You are holding nothing in your hands.
You are wearing a pair of sandals, a rugged haversack, and a long blue robe.
get mortar You pick up a stone mortar.

I was hoping that the ingot shaver, or something else at least, will be able to shave/remove portions off of ingots.
Like say you 'ave an ingot made of a nickel slug, lead slug, and an iron bar (10 slugs), with the shaver you'd be able to remove 1 slug worth of that mixture.
Also, with potions and such like that one you made, will we be able to tell how much of an increase/boost we get from it? Like if it gave us 8 intell... we'd be able to tell.
(One of my biggest pet peeves about DR, you can't tell how much of a bonus/boost anything gives. I'd be so much better if we could just see the bonuses when we look at our stats.) _________________ Dragoonseal |

I'm working out the details on separating supplies into pieces, so that you don't have to use the whole ingot at once etc, tho I should note, right now any non-pure metal (that is, if you mix more than one metal type together such as gold and silver), becomes 'alloy'.
This means of course if you had gold dust, you'd just be breaking it up into smaller portions of gold dust.
I'm not certain if you'll be able to tell exactly how strong a potion is. With sufficient skill, you can look at it to tell what it does, and possibly a general idea of how potent it is. Perhaps at really high skill, get an exact number, or that might be mage-only, not certain.
All things that change your skills or stats in Haelrahv show on your skills list, information sheet respectively. Here's an example of me with a boost to strength, and then an example with a reduction in strength:

<Drool>
Woohoo on all accounts!
Thats very awesome then, I'm assuming that it would also reflect any changes implants are making as well? Ditto for the resistances.
And I love the fact that there is height and weight displays, hopefully weight will change with really cybered people <g>.
P.S. Haha you cheated, you used a picture! _________________ Dragoonseal |

Yep, anything that affects this stuff.

This may go without saying, but it should be noted that while it may take a bit to prepare and combine all the elements for an alchemical product, every time you complete an action (i.e., crush fruit, shave ingot, mix product) you gain experience. Almost anything that invokes positive roundtime (as opposed to roundtime that you gain from being stunned if something blows up in your face) gives you an experience pulse. Some of our systems include several steps to reach a desired goal, but all the while you pick up experience.
Just a note while I was thinking about it.

Just when I was going to give Dragonseal the whole line about how you are still working out the details of the system and I'm sure there will be a roundtime and experience attached to the pouring process, you go and slip a post like that in there, Rich. ;D

Heh, alchemy was written so early on, it's missing lots of little things, like some of the room messaging, for example (you can do some actions and no one sees you do them, yet.)

Just an update here, I've updated things so that you can COMBINE components up to 24 units in one stack/vial/etc. You can also SEPARATE units from a substance, such as SEPARATE 5 FROM POWDER. However, neither of these work with gems/stones/metals if they are not yet refined into powder/dust.
Anyway, this gives you a good method to manipulate how many units of something you use.

Yes! Thank you. This will help lots.
Any chance that we'll be able to see how much we have in something? Like with the example you gave, SEPARATE 5 FROM POWDER, would we be able to maybe count powder or see how much there was there total to start with? _________________ Dragoonseal |

Not only can you look at the say, powder, to count it... but when you separate or combine, it tells you how many unit(s) are there (including both stacks in the case of separate or if you have leftovers from combining since there's a max amount of units per "stack". Example:
combine ivy with ivy You combine some sirolei ivy with some sirolei ivy. You now have eight units of sirolei ivy. Roundtime: 4 sec.
separate 3 from ivy You separate three units from some sirolei ivy. You now have three units of sirolei ivy in your right hand and five units in the left. Roundtime: 3 sec.
look ivy There appears to be three units worth of sirolei ivy.
look other ivy There appears to be five units worth of sirolei ivy.
