I know this has probably been suggested a million times, and then a million times over again...
But regarding the fabrics on Chodaku...I was thinking...
Is there a way that either ososha/lumis/xarloa/karbora/esilan could be bought as undyed swatches/squares/sheets then dyed...Or maybe integrate that shop with the silken fold, and make those 5 materials weave-able, as well as having all attachments and threads in one single place (The pattern shop)...
Either or would be appreciated. I know it sucks for alot of Eolai who would like a traditional look, but with their own color scheme and all they have to choose from is brown/green/blue... _________________ Victim: Well, what is the creed?

Another idea involving weaving I had mentioned briefly to Seth when talking of tailoring, was if a swatch of fabric was woven without mistakes, giving it the chance to be an exceptional quality for the purpose of making the exceptional containers out of materials other then skins. _________________ One must have knowledge beyond learning, and wisdom beyond understanding to say what can or cannot be. |

Not until live, especially not lumis. Not "weave-able" in the way say denim is. It will be specially made (another way, not telling)

A no go, for a couple of reasons. One, tailors such as Mellie and Yaru could pump out exceptional materials at roughly 30 per hour. Two, that would pretty much nullify skins used for tailoring. |

I don't think it would nullify skins being used for tailoring. Even tho i play a non-artisan and can't get the exceptional quality added to the stuff i tailor, i would still use skins over fabrics anyday. For those that can get skins off of your kills, having them tailored is like showing everyone your trophy kill. As far as Mellie and Yaru being able to do 30 per hour, I think they worked their arses of to get to the point where they can be able to do that. I don't think that this idea should be ruined just because of two high level artisans. _________________ Lick or Be Licked |

You misunderstand me. I used two Artisans as an example. Exceptional backpacks (IMO) encourage Professions to work together. Sure, anyone can get exceptional skins but Trackers are much better at it. And yes Tao, you might use skins above all else but the majority would rather use the material with more options which is by far, textiles. I'm not saying it was a bad idea, on the contrary, it was a good one. I however don't think less options for more capacity is an unfair trade. |

Oh well, I'll just leave it as being Yaru's fault.

Definitely my fault now that around 1/3rd or so of my skins are exceptional.
FLOOD THE MARKETS I SAY.
(at 100k a pop...)
that said, i never felt like i was missing out by having textiles cap out like a non exceptional hide. maybe certain uber [non-store] textiles can function like exceptional pelts, like arackus webs and stuff like those eolai fabric from the last festival. Or maybe treasure system fabrics in the R hopper. whatever. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Now that is possible. Maybe. It would be based on luck now that I've thought about it and spoke with Trevor about it, not skill. I'll seriously consider it for live. |

Another thought would be- (and yes this is semi stolen from DR) let the skinners be able to scrape/clean skins, based off skinning skill, to make squares of leather, that would be then dyable by the artisan. That keeps the multiple classes working together, and provides the ability to create exceptional containers from something other then a pelt/hide/skin/scalp. Course the skinners would have to succeed on cleaning the skins for it to keep its exceptional quality.
Example-
Inaira skins a kashaga and gets an exceptional pelt. After her hunt she goes and scrapes the skin, removing all the fur and impurities from it with ease. She now has a kashaga leather square of exceptional quality. This would sell for more to a furrier similar to refining other treasure, or can then be dyed and used to make a container (whether dyed or undyed). If the leather is dyed it will lose the tale-tell marking of what beast it was from making it a (color) leather square of exceptional quality.
I also think that swatches, squares, sheets, or even skeins of exceptional quality materials added to the treasure system would be a great idea!
On a side note- it would also be nice if an artisan could redye a completed piece of handwoven fabric, this allowing for something a bit more simple then having to have a dark grey veisio silk swatch, but just a dark grey silk swatch. _________________ One must have knowledge beyond learning, and wisdom beyond understanding to say what can or cannot be. |

trackers can already SCORE pelts to make them dyable.
it's not leather, though. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Yaru is right, they don't turn into "a leather hide" they turn into "a color kashaga pelt". I think that will remain the same. I don't think anyone really wants to see the native animals taken out and everything turned to leather. |

Perhaps make it so they become 'a <critter> leather' whatever. Or 'some <color> <critter> leather', but only if the creature yields a hide/skin/etc. skin? _________________ "Drama is like a varm sveater that hugs you on a cold vinter's day." - Nevrek |
