Surprised

Sounds like a nice profession -- it'll be interesting to see how you end up striking a balance for an obvious support+debuff profession and still be strong enough to perform solo. Too bad you didn't go with my shapeshifter idea from forever ago! Then again, there's nothing necessarily preventing these Disciple fellows from having that ability. Eh, eh?

There's also nothing preventing us from adding more professions (or even shapeshifting races) either.

We are adding two new races in Live.

Well actually three, I'm not sure if the third will be available at launch of Live or not, but there's a sort of unlocking process, it's not a standard CMgr choice.

This is the profession replacing Crats? So basically there will be no type of non-combat class. That bites! Crats are needed, I understand about any player being able to be involved with politics but to have the rest of the "crat" skills be open to anyone is just B.S. I hope live never comes. Sad

I'm sorry you are losing your favorite profession but there is a non-combat alternative in the form of Artisan.

At least it's not like everyone will be able to do everything Crat-y right from the start; they still have to train in their main profession as well as work to keep up the bureaucratic street-cred.

No, a politics system will replace Bureaucrats, not Disciples. Disciples simply fill a vacancy in the profession list. A for non-combat professions, Artisans are non-combat, Technicians can easily be so if they choose, and Medics, while healing injured, could opt to skip combat entirely as well. Even Psionics, Mages, Trackers and Performers could opt out of combat if they wished. I think we've done a good job of making combat far optional in HR than it is in almost any other online game out there, and I don't expect that to change.

Furthermore, it will take notable time investment to get into the poltiical layer of the game, and that's time you're spending on something other than advancing your main profession. I don't see a ton of people doing that, as many of us consider our primary profession and/or making money, etc as more important.

Yes, a tracker, and any other profession could choose not to be a non-combatant by just foraging, mining, fishing, cooking, tailoring, etc.
