I'm just digging for opinions here.
Keep in mind, option two splits the community. If put in place, there would be a charge for each game (but perhaps at a discount, i.e. if it's $10/month for live (either version), $15 for both verions). _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I went with option one, but only because it's the best of the two in my opinion.
The problem -- which isn't really a problem, but more of a concern -- is how much experience we all end up with at the end of Beta. Which doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but if the COMPLEVEL stuff comes through right before the transition, it's even more of an experience penalty when we transition.
Personally, I'm going to be losing four levels from COMPLEVEL right now, which isn't much to make a difference. However, some people are going to be losing close to twenty. So, for example, instead of going down to level 41 (after just the Live 50% Reduction), they would go down to level 33 (after COMPLEVEL + Live 50% Reduction).
Eight levels (240,000 exp points) is a big -- no, huge -- difference.
So, are we still looking forward to the new experience and skill systems in Beta before we transition to Live? Or is all that being forfeited for more coding time for Live?

PS: Option Two sounds kind of lame, in all honesty. _________________

I'm very much against option 2. Our community is small enough as it is (Though hopefully will get bigger), and we can't afford to split the game. _________________ >ask librarian about books

complevel has nothing to do with anything, heh.
complevel just shows where you stand if you were on the proposed exp system with the character you have right now. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I totally am opposed to option 2. Like Tyg said, we're small enough as is, and with how big we're guessing live will be...that would totally suck. _________________ Neifl Cacambo - "Anyone have change for a tampon?"

Ohh no splitting, too hard to keep up with what I'm doing now. Splitting would mean friends in both places and I'd almost be compelled to do both, that would lead to frustration, burn out, etc. Not to mention double the ones that don't like me.
75%?!?
I understand, but, but, but...
I hadn't heard really what it would be and I do understand why. I'll find the positive aspects of it in my mind soon and go on. Just have find some pieces from my jaw as it shattered on the ground first. _________________ ~* TruSt iN YouRseLf *~ |

We don't know what the percentage will be, I just tossed numbers out there as they could be anything right now.
However, there's an important reason to lose some experience. We can't make a game with content to level 1000 or something right out the gates. If you are near or at max level now, and you were near or at max level in the new version of the game, there's a lot of content you'd never get to actually enjoy because it isn't relevant to you.
I -really- dislike the idea of people being bored almost as soon as they're in a new copy of our old world. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

What I meant was that if the new experience system were put into place before switching over to Live, that'd just be extra overall experience lost when we do get to Live.
Like, if you're level 80 now, and after the new experience is in place you're 60, then when we switch over to Live you lose 50% of your complevel'd experience you would be at 30. But without the new experience system, you'd be at level 40 when we go to Live.
(fake complevel numbers, since I don't feel like looking up the actual numbers)

My complevel always has me going up in experience...not down. Anyways, I am definitely all for keeping it in one game. The 2 game thing just doesn't sound like any fun at all for me. _________________ End of line.

After 50th, you start losing experience with complevel.

morg, look at it this way.
right now there's nothing new you can do.
in live, everything will be new again. and if you started out 100, it would get old really really fast. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Going aside just long enough to clarify: Any experience changes in Beta as the new skill system applies (as shown by complevel) isn't actually a "loss"; it's a conversion to a new standard. While some levels are theoretically "lost", the experience drain rate, amount, and skill caps are all entirely different and enhanced. _________________ Mickey Brunner

Question: What's gonna happen to the title's we've accrued through quests, special events, and/or skills/professions? _________________ End of line.
