I LOVE 1984, though I'd venture to guess that over half of the people that refer to BB don't even know what it comes from. *sigh* But let us not lament the sad decline of our youth today and instead flicker back to the topic at hand.

I'm partial to the Inheritance series (Eragorn, Eldest, ?), the Dark Materials series (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass), and if you haven't read the Grimms Brothers' stories I highly suggest it. Who doesn't like stories about women who hate their own sons so much they have them killed via decapitation by a heavy chest lid then cooks the poor dead kid up?

My last suggestion is Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Cinderella story overplayed? Yes. Ever wish that stupid prat could become the villain of some story? Here you go.

Confessions of an ugly stepsister is excellent, but speaking of Gregory Maguire....you should also read WICKED. OMG it is teh best!

Sheesh! No more Wicked! I liked it when I first heard about it, but I've had too much of it.

I just finished Wicked and am almost done with Son of a Witch, and they're fantastic.

On a similar note, I have the soundtrack of the musical and am dying to see the show.

Did I mention that I've seen Wicked on broadway AND got to meet the cast afterwards. Not that I like to brag or anything. Hm.. I should take a picture of my autographed program...

*tops Haidee's autographed program with a complete set of Maguire's autographed adult novels* I'm waiting until it comes to the Fabulous Fox in Atlanta this summer, I can't wait. I know its NOT the same as the book, but I'm told by friends who have seen it in St. Louis that it is just as good.
