I now have 100 posts. I felt this needed its own thread. Razz

That out of the way, does anyone have a good fantasy book suggestion?

Elizabeth Haydon's Rhapsody if you've not read it.

I second Hannah and would like to add that you should read the Lord of the Rings trilogy if you haven't read it.

Other than that, I recommend anything written by Kim Harrison if you're into vampires and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy if you like sci-fi. And, if you're really ambitious, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Quite lengthy and extremely complex, but as long as you read them in order, they're wonderful. I made the mistake of reading the tenth one first. But Jordan has some really good characters, specifically really good female characters, which is something that is insanely difficult to do, especially for a male author.

It doesn't get much better than Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings as far as I can tell, other than that I don't read much fantasy. I'm more of a sci-fi reader, or at least I was when I had time to read.

Do we really want to get in a religious argument here?

narnia's good. But if you just want a really good book, and I mean the kind that makes you go WOW, read anything by Leon Uris....but A God In Ruins, Exodus, Trinity, or Redmeption are good. They're not fantasy....historical pseudo-fiction actually....but they're some of the most amazing things I've ever read.

if you want a series that's awesome for HR-related inspiration, read the Transmetropolitan series. it's a graphic novel (lookout, pictures!) but the storyline is great.

Haha, you can always spy a comic nerd when they call them "graphic novels". It's a COMIC BOOK, geek boy. *pelts stones, points, and laughs*

comic book = short
graphic novel = long

Rolling Eyes

i don't read comic books for the same reason i don't read Wheel of Time. I like an ending. graphic novels tend to be a whole series' storyline put into one big volume. i can finish it without having to keep buying stuff.

Fine. All joking aside...

1984. Big Brother's just a fantasy, right?
