Bureaucrats
The Bureaucrat is your typical politician, lawyer, businessperson or teacher. Bureaucrats are charismatic and influential, and often gather wealth and power through their influence.
Bonuses: Increased ability to intimidate or persuade; Increased streetwise ability; Increased interest payments on banked funds; Reduced building-related costs; Commodities trading has no negative affect on global commodity value; May receive highest premiums when selling most good to shops, pawns and vendors. |
not like i expect yisi, in any way, to be at a level where i can happily take advantage of that (someday she'll stick around enough to be level 2, hah), but it would be cool if this stuff was enabled for those who actually do stick around and play crats. if not the ability to buy homes at cheaper rates, then at least the ability to speak with contractors or whatever get cheaper rates when getting additions/workrooms/etc. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Bureaucrats receive a reduction in certain aspects of working on their own home. In addition, the services of a Bureaucrat of level 10 or higher are needed to buy a home at all. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Just as a follow-up to give some figures... of course these are subject to change, but here's what the system is set up for now and what I so far expect to use:
- Bureaucrats can reduce the cost to buy a home based on level, persuasion and charisma, up to a maximum of 10% reduction. This applies to homes for themselves or others.
- Bureaucrats automatically pay 10% less for landscaping and home design when working on their own homes. This does not apply for furnishings, nor can a Bureaucrat reduce these costs for other player's homes.
- Bureaucrats can -not- lower maintenance related costs.
- Homes may be sold back without Bureaucrat assistance and are sold back at a flat rate of 88% of the home's original value. Additions such as landscaping, remodeling, etc are not given any sell-back value.
- Sold homes revert to their status before they were purchased, so any changes including room additions, landscaping, etc are lost when a home is sold.
- Furnishings inside sold homes are moved to temporary storage and can only be retrieved by moving them into a new home. Any furnishing or other object inside a home must be removed before the home can be sold. Any player inside the home must leave before a home may be sold. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Do we get more than the 88% if we use a Bureaucrat? _________________ All explorers are seeking something they have lost. It is seldom they find it, and more seldom still that the attainment brings them greater happiness than the quest. |

Nope. I should also clarify that "original value" means the value of the home BEFORE a crat is involved in the original sale. So if a crat gets you a home for 10% off, and you later sell for the 88% rate, you actually only lost 2%. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I dont know if this is possible or not, but I'm interested in buying a luxury home but I lack the funds to buy the home right at this moment. I was thinking maybe Crats can like be able to establish loan approvals from the bank and have monthly payments set up depending on how much is being borrowed plus interest. Failure to pay the monthly payments can result in loss of home and all of your worldly possessions. _________________ Lick or Be Licked |

that screams all colors of abuse, but if you want a loan why not just ask a 'crat for one and set it up with him/her personally? _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I believe most are broke from the fest and/or from buying their own homes. _________________ Lick or Be Licked |

I kind of like the idea of loans. I'd like to see limits along the lines of "you can only borrow x-percent of what you currently have in the bank" (which could be modified based on the Bureaucrat), though.
And if you don't make a payment deadline, you're shipped off to debter's prison.
