My piece of crap computer probably should be repaired every few days. |
the laptop i play HR on forgets it has a harddrive every week or two.
as for item decay, i'm more for combat/useful stuff decaying than fluffy stuff. like the light sources made from onyx and the thought-blockers are good examples. those should decay. but a pair of nice pants shouldn't, just because it's more an annoyance to get another pair. the lights and thought blockers do something, while the pants just sit there pantsing around. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

My computer is like majorly screwed up. I can get on HR through some little program thing, don't know what it's called. GoPlay doesn't work, cause it can't connect to the website, I can't visit websites, but still get pop-ups, my msn will connect to the internet, but not sign on. My YIM works, but my AIM and Trillian don't. It's really weird. Oh yeah, and when I'm saving a file, I can't switch directories to save it in 80% of the time. _________________ >ask librarian about books

we could do away with money in the terms of buy and sell to shops and just have it where our profession leaders pay us alongside our skillpoints for experienced earned using our profession skills ....... does that make any sense
this would lead to only players putting in the work using their profession based skills gaining money and being able to then spend their money by buying only from other players using their profession based skills to create items for sale
mind you to make this work everybodies bank accounts would have to be drained so we all have to work out hearts out to get any cash to buy stuff with |

In Modus, the original primary means players got money was a "paycheck" they got at intervals automatically. This didn't stick around, of course. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

This is something I once suggested for the commodity system. I didn't go into much detail explaining it and of course it was shot down fairly quickly. One neat thing about this is you could let people make/lose money by playing the market. The main disadvantage is you often have people who "crash" the market through ignorance/spite/frustration. |
There -was- a buy/sell system through Terevo; it's what Sway and Zamde (and several others that acutally listened) tried telling people all along. While 90% of the player base spent half their time freaking out and policing the ticker to make sure everything stayed nice and inflated and at 20.0, Sway and Zamde were selectively choosing the high-end ones to crash solely for the purpose of then buying bulk units back at low, and waiting to sell and start over again when it peaked. People have asked where we came up with so much money? There you go -- smart investing.
Our best gimmick was buying several thousand units of alloy when it was fixed at the 0.25 rate and then turning into gold via potion to sell back. That was multiple millions by itself.
Edit: Giving it further consideration, that system -was- removed. Whether we were a factor is beyond me. _________________ An eye for an eye; but my eye's worth more.

Well I meant a more robust and less manipulable system. Although the ability for people to find exploits is really quite amazing. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

I'm not sure how that was an exploit. I held my own personal money in my own bank account. Don't blame me for you GM's being bad at math. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

I'm going to assume you're joking, and you should assume insulting GM's is ill advised. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
