I think that a group leader should be able to climb people up whatever and swim people around based on their skills only, or with a slightly higher roll required based on the groups skills or something.

I could easily drag someone through the water while swimming as long as they had some rudimentary idea of how to swim. Dragging multiple people would involve some problems but hey this is fantasy it can be whatever.

Climbing would be a bit more tough of course but still doable.

I think this would give everyone a better chance of doing group things, especially with the new swimming area. . .you need 200 swimming to get down there, not everyone is gonna have. But alot do have the combat skills necessary to defend themselves against whatever is down there but will never get a chance to see it because 200 swimming is alot to build up to.

Often I find myself asking people to go hunt only to get replies like. . 'I can't, I don't have enough swimming to get to said area. . or enough climbing.' And it will only get worse as more areas will require high amounts of swimming and climbing to get to.

Yeah, I was just thinking to myself today how this game needs climbing/swimming mules.

How long would it take to train a 200 swimming or climbing mule? Probably quite some time.

If people couldn't share mules, you might have a point.

Hmm, I have no idea what percentage of the population uses eachothers characters so I wouldn't know about that.

I think thats a very good idea if nothing else to see other places you cant normally plus when you married wanting to take your mate with you would also be a very good thing.

The new area requires high swimming skill because you're more or less swimming along the ocean floor, or in exceptionally low-depth areas. Not only would adding such a feature completely cheapen the idea of training swimming, it's also very unrealistic to conceive of one strong swimmer dragging an entourage through a sub-aquatic ravine.

Well not necessarily Mickey. I can understand the entourage thing but helping one person along is a little different. It is doable to help one person swimming I'd think.

Helping one person would basically mean a) tiring out the helper to the point they could not keep it up for long and b) greatly increasing swimming skill needs so that the 200 points needed becomes maybe 300 or more instead.

i think someone with tons of swimming/climbing should be able to help someone with little/no swimming/climbing through very easy areas (hell, one of the swimming titles is LIFE GUARD).

but there's also a huge difference between "guy with 120 swimming helping guy with 0 swimming through that chodaku trap" and "guy with 200 swimming helping guy with 0 swimming through bottom of ocean."

There's reason that there are places where you have to swim. So people have to train swimming. If you're going to let a couple big people just climb and swim for others, there's no point in having swimming areas, and it swimming becomes just another show off skill like aviation or some crap.

So, I vote this not happen, as much as I'd like it to.
