For only have enough appraisal to tell creature levels, I don't blame anyone that my apps are so off. In fact, I'd expect it.

They make a lot more sense when you've trained appraisal.

I wouldn't say they make "a lot more" sense. With "max" appraisal, you still get quite a lot of variation in an item's appraised value. But it's really not worth it to keep training it indefinitely.

I'm not sure how much variation you consider to be "a lot" in three identical appraisals, but the result and the actual value of the ring are dead on.

What stats/skills were you using? With 200 appraisal, I definitely don't get the same value every time.

Just did a little testing... with (202) appraisal, I get +/-10% of the true value of an item. That's hardly "dead on."
Of course, it could be my less than perfect mentals. Or maybe you just need more skill than most people can get before 100.
I'm just anal about numbers, you know.
