The most important skills for a Technician are:
Repair, Research, and Electronics. Because Technicians specialize in pulse weaponry, the Pulse Weapons skill is also recommended. |

Did you miss the part about our bonus to pulse weapons? (my bonus is currently 46 extra points added to pulse) Did you miss the part where light armor AND tactics are triple trained?
Sounds kinda combaty to me. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

they gave an option and bonus so you could be semi-combatative
that doesn't make you the army rangers sorry
Edit:on a side note all the other "known" combat professions have triple trainable defenses Technicians and Artisans do not
hmm maybe because they dont fall under "combat profession"? _________________ >You allow Stilldawn to undress you. |

Light armor: triple trained
Wrong again.
Tech have triple trained offense skills (pulse...which gets a bonus ABOVE being triple trained), and defense skills (light armor)...plus triple trained 'multi-opponent' skills (tactics). _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Who needs to parry/evade or block when you stay in missle range of the baddies? And I wasn't aware that armor is not concidered defense. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Sorry but ALL professions get weapons triple trainable but that won't even matter with the new system. You should just stop using those kind of examples because they will soon be obsolete. With the new skill system most people SHOULD be able to define their characters more to their liking with a wider range of flexibility than we've ever had before. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

then can't kit use the bonus techs get to pulse as some sort of sign that "hey, i'm a tech and very capable of using a pulse gun...maybe it's for combat use?" _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Honestly I don't understand why it was Techs that got that innate bonus and not Troopers. It baffles me.
Regardless, stats play a major role in HR's combat mechanics, infinitely more so than DR's for those of you that came from there.
A 10% bonus doesn't mean jack shit if you don't have the proper stats trained for combat as outlined in News 16. After all my experience I'd say the balance between stats and skill would be very close to being equal.
Someone with 220 pulse but with significantly differing stats could do very poorly where another with only 200 in pulse would excel in combat situations with better trained stats.
Non-combat oriented professions won't have as much flexibility with their stats as combat-primary because of other skills requiring non-combat stats. Unless of course they want to make their character powerful in combat and neglect other required stats.
This is the freedom we have NOW and it will become even more flexible with the new skill system. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Luckily, coordination, mentality, and perception are all important stats for techs. I couldn't agree more about stats effecting combat. I couldn't hit paladins with 247 in pulse and 100 in coordination. But 102 in coordination and I can bring em down easy. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage
