Before I start, I am going to explain that I am not complaining, just asking a question related to something I've seen that seems to change as it moves across the board.
When cyber eyes are implanted, these changes occur.
Attune eyesight (psionic power) doesnt work.
Nightvision (psionic power) doesnt work
Perception potion (alchemy) doesnt work
Nightvision potion (alchemy) doesnt work.
Eyeshine ability (herbalism) doesnt work
Here is where the change is.
Psionic/magical blindness still works.
A psionc power that affects eyes would be stopped by cyber eyes. It seems like it would be the same regardless of the positive or negative affects of the power.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone had a point of view on that.

It's a Tracker thing. Doesnt count as alchemy. The best description I could find to describe it is herbalism

Dermagel still affects cyber eyes, but it is a bug, most likely caused by dermagel being coded before cybergear was released.
However, this will be fixed when the updates to dermagel are released.
I'm going to hazard a guess that this is a bug also, but I could be wrong. _________________ Counselor Faith Tempest

I had figured it was just unaddressed. I wanted to ask though since I havent been here as long as others and dont know everythign thats already been brought up before.
Theres a few little things here and there, but I think those are mainly part of this being test, and they havent really been gone into yet. Random thing being... A vyeftium coffer. You cant use unlock on it. a vyeftium pendant stops temepathy, but a suit of vyeftium armor has no psionic protection.
I just wasnt sure if the cyber eye thing was unaddressed, or if it has been and I just wasnt around for it.

I've never considered the blindness effect to be a bug, based on this concept: You need more than a pair of cyber eyes to see. These eyes connect to the brain, and either that connection (if it is organic) or the brain itself, could be affected by psi/magic. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

That makes sense, but given the same thing, wouldnt attune eyesight still work with cyber eyes, while alchemy wouldnt?

i know i'm using the deadly 'u' word, but i do think that is pretty unfair. why would the bonus granting things target the eyeballs, but the attack spells know enough to target right behind the eyeballs.
i'm all for magic that alters body parts not altering robo-parts, but it should work both ways. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I honestly have to agree with Yaru here. It's inconsistant. If magic/psionics effect the brain, then they all should. Including the benefitial magics. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I have to concur here. It seems very unfair that beneficial affects don't work, but harmful affects do. _________________ You hack your way through a very young fisherman's back. It may not have been pretty, but it got the job done.

You already get permanent beneficial effects from cyber eyes that you can switch out whenever you want by visiting a technician able to extract upgrades and put new ones in.

Gabriel.
Very true that there are always somethign good being given to you by cyber eyes.
I think the focus of that statement made by myself, Yaru, Kit, and Fatboy is limited to psionic powers and how they affect normal and cyber eyes. More specifically that a trained psionic, be it a professional or someone just very good, would be able to be blinded be the blind power, since theres always going to be some type of biological connection between the cyber implant and the body, but using those same means, a trained psionic (professional or not) wouldnt be able to enhance that same aspect. Theres way to show both arguments though, so I'm not intending to make a scene or anything, just pointing somethign out for discussion.
In no way tarnishes the validity of what you said Gabriel, I just felt as though the point being made prior is outside the realm of actual cybernetic bonuses.

The post was not to make potions give people with cybergear extra perception, but making things like detrimental spells not work as well because of the same reasons. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

yes but the IG reasoning is that magic won't work on cyberparts. so if that's true, all i'd want is some consistancy.
let's say that there's a computer virus trap that shorts out cyberparts. now let's say that it works even on actual limbs that aren't cybernetic. so people get the punishment from the computer virus but not the bonus of cyberparts. that wouldn't be fair, either. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!
