Is it possible for things with guns not to autofire when you step into a room? We need to aim and fire and they squeeze em off like nothing. Ouch. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

while i'd love to not get faceshoot the minute i enter somewhere, that's exactly how i hunt, so it's only fair they can too, heh.
and we don't need to aim. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I really don't see any reason for this to change. _________________ HR-Marduk

They should have a two second wait...or however long it takes a normal person to type: shoot hunter head _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

You're really going to have to do better than that if you're actually trying to convince me. _________________ HR-Marduk

Listen, not to be rude or anything, but before I can hit the 7 on the number pad, they shoot me down and stun me and shoot the shit out of my cyber gear. Do they have 'shoot kit murphy' on a macro? The point is, players have the disadvantage of having to type. Creatures with guns don't. Even things that have to advance have a lag time to advance on you. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Theres alot of ways around that problem. There is already a delay for things arriving, to give you that chance. You can always peer into the room ahead of you to make sure your not going to get jumped. You can hide, or use an invisibility potion. Aside from that, I would be willing to bet that they get a penalty for snapshots as well, either by the same mechanics as players do, or by a direct reduction of skills to show that. I dont think there needs to be a delay there for when you walk into the room. It makes sense that they would fire off the bat. And theres already ways you can keep yourself safe there.

I don't think you understand. Creatures (and other NPC's) don't actually type in their commands. _________________ HR-Marduk

Heh...
Uh...
Yes, obviously, hence why I said players are at a disadvantage. ^.^; I was being a smartass. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I'm sorry, but players are at nothing resembling a disadvantage.
1> On average, creatures attack at least twice as slowly as players.
2> On average, the fastest creature takes a full 2 seconds to even respond to the presence of a player in the room. The 'norm' for a creature is over 7 seconds.
3> You could just as easily (and I'd fathom to guess that most decent hunters do) have a macro that does the equivalent of "shoot kit head".
4> This doesn't even get into the dozens of intangible advantages players have over creatures (like the ability to hide or run away when hurt, the ability to simply peer into a room and NOT go into it if there's a creature about 10 levels higher, just to name a few). _________________ HR-Marduk

Let me clarify on this issue a bit.
Creatures usually run at a rate of 15 seconds. So every attack has a 15 sec RT, to put it in player terms. However, when you enter a room they could have anywhere from 15 to 0 seconds left on that RT and thus yes they could shoot you immediately.
What Marduk is pointing out here is that players and creatures will not ever be quite on equal footing because they work different ways. What you're experiencing is a timing issue and it could just as well work out that you have a nice 15 second window to do anything you want, safely, as it does that sometimes you get shot right off. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Thanks Trevor. I must have just been getting some horrible luck. I think I'll play it safe and stay with things that have to get to melee to smack me down. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage
