i'm on the fence on the issue of "hunting shouldn't be safe".

on one hand, it makes sense to add danger to the game, because that way it's more fun in the long run. winning when knowing you can lose is a lot more fun than winning without a chance of loss.

on the other hand, it always pained me from a roleplay perspective to always have a character die. just because someone can be revived shouldn't mean they shouldn't mind dropping dead (from a roleplay perspective).

beyond the whole lack of a desire to have my character get killed, i have no clue how to deal with death from a roleplay standpoint. i'd say yaru should be scared of death, but if it is something that comes off as normal, how can it be scary?

Think of it like having a close call while driving when some schmuck almost sideswipes you.. or when you realize you just ran a red light by accident and you hear horns blaring at you.

Scares the living shit out of you, you panic briefly, then you recover and you're better. I'm trivializing death a lot with this example, but it's probably much closer to death in a RPG than death IRL is.

Thanks for reminding me of my trip on the interstate earlier. Stupid entrance ramp and people thinking they have the right-away off of them.

Just because your character knows they can be revived or rise as a clone, doesn't mean that dying doesn't hurt, alot, especially dying from being beaten to a pulp.

I look at it like this. Rarely, am I just beaten to a pulp instantly. It takes time, and I have time to realize it's going to happen. And the fact that there's a death penalty means that it takes alot of stress to come back. And besides, getting back would have to hurt, as much as or more then leaving in the first place.
