|
|
Since there seemed to be quite a bit of interest in the topic, I've decided to post a summary of medical devices and how they're going to be used.
Bioscanner - Used to diagnose patient wounds.
Bandages - These are required to tend bleeding wounds.
Dermagel - A healing gel that heals minor scrapes and wounds.
Dermaplaz - A healing gel that heals bleeding wounds. Applied via a bandage.
IV kits and bags of Plasma - Used for a patient who has had extensive blood loss.
Dermal Regenerator - Heals most internal and external wounds.
Optical Pulse Emitter - Heals eye wounds.
Laser Scalpel - Allows the medic to heal internal wounds by making them accessable.
Neurolizer - Heals nerves.
Cryostasis Device - Slows down bodily functions such as blood loss, and poison effects.
Electrocortex Pulsar - Restores memory degregation after death.
Cardiostimulator - Restarts the heart after death, allowing the Medic to revive the patient.
Any questions, suggestions, or comments (as always) are welcome!! _________________ "I'm not quiet...I'm plotting" |

What would be a medics starting equipment? Just bandages and wound healing equipment? And would we be able to use other equipment in time or will we just wing it?

Medics will probably start out with an IV kit, Bandages and Dermagel and possibly Dermaplaz (this is not final so dont quote me! ).
Some items absolutely cannot be used until a certain level/skill is reached, and some items can be used but not properly without certain skills.
I hope this answered what you were asking _________________ "I'm not quiet...I'm plotting" |

Oh how about a tricorder? I know the trekkie in me coming out.
I remember they had medical tricorder's, scientific tricorders etc. You could sell them in the medical equipment supply shop with interchangeable databases.
The medical ones are for scanning for bio signs in a patient similar to the bioscanner. Perhaps bioscanner can be for more detailed analysis? The scientific one can identify geology, geography, flora and fauna? Or just combine them into one and have one database.
Just some ideas.

And cut into the lovely Ecology skill's usefulness? _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Well it could just give composition of what you found or the area if it's not a forageable item, not where it can be found at x,y,z coordinates.
Just something to think about though.

What does the skill ecology do for you?
Perhaps I don't understand what the skills purpose is.

Ecology is used for foraging (notice there is no Foraging skill) but it also encompasses identifying plants and animals, and other nature lore.
Having high Ecology allows you to easily tell how an alchemical component is to be prepared, when you look over these plants and such.
It's also used for identifying minerals, metals, etc. and will be used for mining.
And, it will be used for gardening and the like as well. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Gardening, like almost all activities in Hael, is not restricted to profession. But I don't think it will be immediately available at alpha.
Generally, all players can do the same things (with a few exceptions per race / profession) but a profession geared toward that activity will have significantly superior ability to perform that action.
As an example, anyone can learn magic and cast it well. However, one of the four spell circles is reserved for the Mage profession purely. In addition, the strength, duration and cast time of Mage spells far surpasses that of other professions. Mages also have the spell overloading option that other classes do not enjoy. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

that's good to know, since I will be trying out different professions, that means no matter which one I choose I can still dabble in other things.
not every mage likes to always cast spells, occationally they want to get into something else, maybe have a creative spot in their head. Medic's might also have a tech inside that comes up with different ideas to improve on what they are doing. |
