I'm not sure if this was covered somewhere else (and by the number of threads we have on this board, who could blame me?), but is combat going to be somewhat as detailed as in <that other place>, if not moreso? If I remember correctly, GS3 just had one verb for combat -- ATTACK -- which really ruins the whole glee of battle, though in DR, you have Slice, Draw, Sweep, Bash, etc.. including special Brawling moves.. then the verbs for ranged (load 'n fire, but at least there's more than one).

Just curious. I'm sure there'd be a hellavalot more verbs since we're getting pulse weapons here, in addition to what DR generally has (assuming bows are still going to be used here due to the Marksmanship skill.. along with guardians getting unarmed combat, I think).

Combat will have lots of verbs and options, and using these in certain orders may prove more effective.

However, I was personally annoyed by how some weapons in DR were very difficult to use unless you figured out a perfect combo of verbs to use in sequence (like say a polearm, for example) while ME, HE blades were easily used by contrast with simple parry/jab/parry/slice combos, etc.

I don't currently envision balance or position as part of the system.. I think it overly complicates things. But which attack you use when, will factor to a point, and stamina, injury and how many things you are fighting will all factor. I think injuries may be more prominent of an issue here than DR seems to make them.

Of course encumbrance also factors in, as well as equipment being used.

I think Balance should still factor in somehow.. I mean, it'd give people another reason to want to train Coordination and Agility (both of which would factor into balance, I think, if you go with the conotations of the words) if they want to go into combat. Though, now that I think about it, that'd be more of a penalty for the Maim-and-Slay type of people and their training regimen... but then again, it opens their minds to the other experience-gaining systems you wondermous people are making for us. Yee!

Regardless of balance, the coordination and agility stats will be pivotal to combat.
