awesome surprise, i wasn't expecting these until after the new skill system rolled out.

thanks a ton, valla. my only gripe will be when this tent poofs on me.

a lot of tailoring stuff to play with, and no time to do it!

Just to let everyone know, so we don't go through this again, looms are Artisan-only.

oh, and because the world would end if i didn't find odd bugs...

1) I can't grade unfinished containers using skeined fabrics.
2) Items made with skeined fabrics can't be sold anywhere.

Problem is not everyone has access to the boards to know that.

Code:
This hand loom must be warped before you can begin to weave upon it.

it says this even when it is warped. not sure if the look is more a reminder of the verbs to use or an actual indicator of what the next step is.

is it possible to up the values of the items made with the new fabrics?

it takes me ~1 1/2 minutes to warp a loom, and ~4 minutes to weave a jada eyelet sheet (i don't know if both of those times may be reduced with skill, but there's not much more room for improvement that i can make in terms of stats and skills, i think, anyway).

edit: i also know that ~5 minutes total isn't a monumental amount of time or anything. it's more that i figure if someone is processing this stuff, then the actual value of the sheet would really be more than $450. i think that makes some sense. so this isn't a 'oh god it takes FOREVER,' just more that i'm pointing out it's more than just buying a fabric and playing with it. there is at least a skill and time investment.

i also figure a processed sheet of the new material would be worth more than just the raw skein's price, right?

Code:
lumis swatch: $55
scroll case: $275

Code:
lumis sheet: $165
backpack: $575
trench coat: $825
gown: $800
corset: $750

Code:
small jada skein: $250
scroll case: $325

Code:
large jada skein: $450
backpack: $1,150
trench coat: $1,625
gown: $1,575
corset: $1,450

while i'd love if the sheet items would be worth more, i especially would like the swatch (and i figure square) items to get a pretty good price boost.

the way i see it, jada eyelet is the getok skin of skeins (uh, and those are the hardest skein and skin to get, right? i'm just basing that on the notable price tag it has in comparison to everything else and the fact that getok are pretty badass skinables), and i know finalized large-sized getok items go for $4,000ish, with the small ones going for $2,000ish. granted, i also realize that it's a lot safer to make a sheet than kill/skin a getok, but i'd really hope that the price can jump up some more all around.

as of right now, the large items sell for the same price as gragrok items (i think, i'm on my school laptop so i dont have the numbers infront of me) and the scroll case is a lot lot worse than gragrok (those go for $750ish, i think).

i also completely understand that the money can't be too rewarding, because we both know very well that i intend to sit around pumping these things out for cash. but i'd still like to see a slight price increase.

edit: i also understand completely that the first two price tweaks were justified, especially the first one, which i'm sure was just an outright bug. the second one was more tweaking for the sake of balance, and while i agree even that price was too much i think the tweak took it way too low, at least in my demented, greedy mind.

stats:
Code:
Coordination : 130  (147)
Mentality    : 83 (84)
Perception   : 120  (122)

skills with loom:
Code:
Tailoring                : 171  (244)
Craftsmanship            : 171  (241)

skills without loom:
Code:
Tailoring                : 171  (231)
Craftsmanship            : 171  (229)

another minor bug: when i look at woven fabrics, i get a blank line. no 'you see nothing special', no 'you see an awesome fabric yaru made', no nothing.

i'm double posting because that previous one is big enough as it is...

i just tested making a cotton scroll case, and that sells for almost $300.

so the $12 skein can be processed and made into a scroll case that is almost the same price as the $250 skein.

that makes me believe something buggy is about, or that i'm going to have a lot of testing that i planned to do anyway ahead of me tonight.

but i love testing these systems out, so everything is okay.

that means i love this system, honest. Smile

is it possible that weaving a swatch of canvas can be faster than weaving a sheet of jabo eyelet? right now they seem to take the same amount of time, unless i was miscounting.

edit: no idea if you changed this or not, but i do notice that a small jabo skein takes 4 weaves, and large ones take 10 (i'd try medium to but who cares about those!). so maybe i was just oblivious. but i still say a canvas skein should finish faster than a jabo eyelet! Wink

it's just possible that all this weaving is making me go crazy. very very possible.

I just made a canvas scroll case, which the fabric cost $10.00, ok add in the warping thread and it's $12.00. I sold the scroll case, and it was worth $3.00. Needless to say, I will not be making anymore scroll cases Crying or Very sad

The values are going to get looked at. At present, we opted for a "go low and work our way up" approach to balancing them out, rather than stick to the pre-change $40k gown and work downwards.
