I've played a few console games that had a luck stat. Most of the mechanics behind it were thus: You stay at an inn to replenish your life and such and each time you did each characters luck stat would change randomly.
I think it would be neat if PC's luck in game had a sort of random effect to it. Perhaps over a set amount of time it could change for better or for worse which could affect a variety of things: treasure gain, fishing, blowing box traps etc.
Luck enchancing items\spells would still help of course, boosting it passed its norm considerably or preventing you from having bad luck that day.
I know it would take a bit of work to impliment but it's just another idea. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

We did this in Modus Operandi. The luck stat affected many things and it changed regularly (I believe once or twice a day). However, I think people disliked it overall because they didn't understand why one day they could climb a barrier and the next day they couldn't, etc. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Yea I can understand that. Even though it goes both ways, one day you might be really lucky and benefit from it but the second ones luck turns bad they tend to focus more on that than on anything good that came from it heh. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

maybe make a voluntary luck stat.
why not allow medics to purchase 'experimental' injections (maybe from Datastream Technologies), that they can then inject in themselves or others (for the sake of being DT test subjects). these injections can do random things, like from make you stronger to give you a huge balance penalty to cure you of Gemrem's curse to cause you to make you forget how to read (massive research/spell research/occult lore penalty).
make it nice and crazy and random! _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!
