the only two things i'd want as of right now:
1) book-covers added to the tailoring list (bwah ha ha).
2) the wood-type to matter for something. right now there's a difficulty range, but there's no reason to not use super soft woods as opposed to, like, haeleio. |
I don't think the wood really matters, just like the hide doesn't matter. I would like maybe thick paper to be used instead of wood for soft backs and for people to tailor other book-covers as well. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

nonono, i don't mean in terms of quality, but instead in terms of it just saying what wood was used. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

The absolute slowest rate of study (if you have zero skill) is 5 minutes to completely memorize one spell. The fastest possible rate is 2 minutes. |
Is that 5 minutes overall time? I think someone else can answer me by now, do you have to take breaks between each study or can you study over and over until you learn it? _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Just for reference, most of you have seen this page before but here's the new spell list:
http://www.haelrahv.com/new-magic/
Several of the new spells and psi will be implemented but not all. Some will wait til Live.
The fishing update today adds in box drops. These box items can include spell/psi pages. The contents of these boxes are completely different than hunting-based treasure. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

What affects the rate at which you find boxes from fishing? Is it total random luck? _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

hey Trevor, how do prereqs work in this system?
say I have a mage or something and I want to learn blizzard.
do i have to learn icy aura, then frostbite, then howling gale, etc etc etc up to blizzard? or are prereqs moot with this system structure? _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

The chests you can find are a side-effect of fishing and thus yes, it's down to dumb luck. There are ways you can increase your chances of getting a box instead of a fish but I'm going to leave you all to discover those tricks.

They don't. I'm completely leaving out the entire issue of pre-requisites. I will re-assess this in Live and decide whether or no to implement them there later, but given the whole study/forget/restudy process, we might well scrap spell/power pre-reqs. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I'm fairly certain that this hasn't been brought up yet, but will Spellsongs need to be put into the spellbooks as well? Or are they considered "body knowledge" or something and once you learn it you're just going to know it forever?

I don't know of any plans Mickey has to emulate the new spell stuff. Of course, anything is subject to change as the game evolves. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I think I asked earlier and Trevor said it was only mage and psionic spells. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Your memorized spell will last a minimum of 48 hours at 0 skill, and at maximum 60 hours. That's in game time, your time out of game does not affect your memorized spells. |
Is there any way you can make it so that idle time doesn't count? Some of us leave our characters in game pretty much 24/7 even if we aren't active all the time. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Yeah. I made an adjustment so that players who are in game but have been idle for one minute or more will not have their memorized spell durations reduced while they remain idle.
Remember, if you use the Wizard's rest mode or other such keep-alive scripts you will break your idle status each time you send that command to the game, thereby reducing the effect of this change.
If for some reason you absolutely must send such commands to stay connected, send them as rarely as possible. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I dunno if this has been asked or addressed but what about Telepathy and Mental Link?
I don't understand how you would forget how to use Telepathy or Mental Link if you use them alot on a daily basis, or any spell for that matter but I understand the concept, especially with no more spell slots.
I was thinking that Telepathy could be changed to a skill instead of a magic spell. And with more ranks\training in it, one could project their thoughts farther. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |
