I'm with Faith on this one, spicy well more like extra extra spicy Mexican is my favorite. Indian food is good too, mmmm curry, but it's hard to find a good restaurant around here. And a close third is sushi, if the spicy rolls were a bit spicier it might rival the Mexican.

Mmm, forgot about curry...but yeah. favorite is Mexican, and since you asked for a favorite 'dish', well, that would be a tossup between chile relleno and carne asada (of course, this implies they are prepared correctly).

I usually love food that isn't prepared exactly as the recipe calls for. Hehe. I'm just like that. My favorite dish that I cook is rice in the rice cooker and whatever stuff is in the fridge. We call it pot luck rice.

I've never understood the greatness of chicken fried steak. That's like a heart-attack waiting to happen.

Mmm, grits.

Quote:
Chicken-fried steak is beef, usually round steak, tenderized then dipped in a mixture of egg and milk, then dredged in seasoned flour and/or crumbs. It is then fried in hot oil, shortening, or drippings until the coating is browned and crispy, similar to fried chicken. A milk gravy made from the drippings and dregs left in the pan is usually served with it, along with mashed potatoes. According to John Egerton in Southern Food, country fried steak is another name for the dish, and is usually dredged in flour without the egg coating.

So, instead of just saying "deep fried steak", we in the south thought it would be awesome to liken the food to chicken.

If anyone were to describe the "greatness" of a food, it would generally be a description of its taste, not its healthiness.

While some foods people posted in this thread in fact may be healthy, I don't think many people consider a certain food to be a "favorite" based purely on its healthiness. And, in fact, healthiness wasn't part of the posed question/poll.

I'm not sure I even have a favorite food that attempts to be good for my continued health.

Peppers (Jalapeno, Serrano, etc.) are supposedly really good for lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) by lowering cholesterol and triglycerides. They are also packed full of beta carotene (full day's supply in one pepper) and vitamin C (two day supply).

Not that the above is the reason I eat them. Cool
