Ticker Announce, I would think, would be for telling the Broker when something reaches its peak selling point. But since it's out of stock, I don't know. The Ticker Upgrade is just so you can access the ticker with your organizer, no matter where you are.

Shop Sales, I would think, would be for telling the Bureaucrat how much they've made in their shop. For when those are released.

I've noticed that the Solar Upgrade doesn't recharge my battery when I have it turned off. And my battery runs down pretty fast, too. I guess that's understandable, though, since I'm using a standard battery.

Yeah. I kept my Bureaucrat outside the north gate for over eight hours (while sleeping) and I'm fairly certain that it was daylight for most of that time. It was when I went to sleep and when I woke up, anyway.

I wore it on my belt, too. Turned off. So I don't know.

Hmm..maybe..but I'm around for at least 4-5 hours a day, and I'm sure Thorne covers a lot of the time when I'm not. I can't recall ever telling someone "no, I'm too busy to do that." If we're not around, I don't think it's a serious issue that someone can't get their ticker upgrade installed right that minute.

And yeah, that's what the broker one does. Number of brokers, total extra, and also an average of the extra money per broker. Nifty I guess, but not worth 35k (to me anyway). Now all I need to figure out is the difference between the ticker announcement and sales notification.

The thing is, Thorne and Infierna aren't around much...at least, not when I have brokers thinking to me asking me to upgrade their organizers. But hey, it wasn't for my benefit that I was saying it. I don't really like to leave hunting just to do upgrades for people. I was stating that with only two techs that can do it and their sporadic times arounds, it makes it hard for people to get upgrades.

That, and I've always been a strong believer that Shavcire should be able to upgrade people as well. For a price.

If people are asking you to do things that, mechanically, you cannot do... is it all that hard to tell them to wait for those that can actually do it? If you do not want to stop hunting to do things for people... is it all that hard to tell them to wait x-amount of time?

Just because two people have been dedicated enough to get to a required level to be able to do something -- and you haven't -- is not a good reason to low that requirement to better satisfy the masses. It's really not that big of an issue, as far as I can see; it's not like all of the brokers are going to revolt unless they can get their upgrades installed the moment they buy them. Well, the logical ones won't. And it's not like upgrades are so urgent that they're do-or-die. They're UPGRADES. Something of better value and/or function than the previous. None of the available upgrades are crucial for a Bureaucrat to be successful (the same can be said for upgrades to cybergear).

And you want to have an NPC install upgrades? Why not NPC-automate everything? That just kills the point in professions altogether. Hardly anybody will seek out a PC to (for example) install their upgrades if they know they can go to some NPC and get it down instantly. Price really is no object in the game's society as it is, so it's not like that's going to be some grand deterrant from overusing the service.

Gah.

Last time I checked, Kit was a higher level then Thorne. Thorne however has a great deal of bonus items that let him do things Kit can't. It's not about level requirement. If that was it, I could do more then Thorne can.

I think there should ALWAYS be an option for people that don't want to deal with PCs. And money is too an issue. Having Shavcire repair my gear is expensive. As it should be.

One should never have to rely on a single player, or two players, for anything. Ever. That's ridiculous.

I know you feel otherwise, and you certainly can go on posting about it if you'd like. We've LONG established that you and I have very differing ideas on most things. Which is fine. No need to constantly attack me. It's getting tedious.

Thank you for completely missing the point.

Sure, I said level. But his bonused items also relate to his dedication to better himself. If you were as dedicated as he is then you'd have just as many, if not more, bonuses.

The meat of your argument is still that the requirements should be lowered so that lower-skilled Technicians can do things that the higher-skilled Technicians are doing. Why does that not sound unreasonable to you? There needs to be some reason for you to level.

And I'm not attacking you; I'm simply pointing out the obvious flaws in your logic.

PS: By the way, Rikiar, I really am enjoying the computers. Because I'm all about keeping a thread on track.

Um....what? Winning raffle items doesn't mean...hey whatever. Sometimes you're massively psycho. I'm not going to bother to answer a question that has to do with the luck of a drawing or being around for an alterer that does bonuses with being more dedicated to his profession. Dude, sometimes you really make it easy to realize you're full on nonsense. Thank you for the enjoyment!

the idea that players shouldn't rely on other players in an online game is silly, especially when the things they're relying on are tiny perks they dont need to survive.

unless computers devour batteries at a much faster rate than comms, a super battery lasts practically forever.

the ticker function only keeps them from having to go one room east of trevero (where most broker anyway) and look to see what things are at what rate.

and saying 'people rely on other players and that's bad' is just silly. it's not like these upgrades existed in some previous form before, and now some mean gm swept them up and said "and now, only TECHS can give it back to you!"

these upgrades never existed before. at all. ever. now they do and there are some requirements needed to get them completed.

this is as bad as people bitching about needing an artisan to repair the links. it's not like the links existed before yesterday. nothing is being taken away. more things are being given, only the platter is made of copper instead of silver.

You don't mean the thread started yesterday, do you Yaru? Or are people actually bitching that they need the things repaired over time?

Some people are saying it should be a magice thing...but the links are jewelry...and therefore, repairing jewelry should be the artisan's domain. I can see where maybe a psionic should have to reconnect the psionic aspect of it though. Unless, some metals just naturally block telepathy.

From the Captain Muja library guidebook: "Vyeftium is an uncommon silver-green metal that is an alloy of Drachna and Silferton. It is difficult to work with, although it can be forged and machined. Additionally, it is non-conductive and resistant to magic. This metal is used for anti-magical protection and machine shielding, as well as lightweight weapons and armor. Vyeftium does not oxidize."

From our GM info: "Has natural anti-magic/psi properties"

That should (hopefully) clear that up.

And just to clear up one misconception (mainly because I don't want you thinking his abilities are tied solely to his bonused items). No, Kit is not higher than Thorne. What level is Thorne? Well that is up to him to tell you.
