I'm sorry if you feel that you're getting slighted in some way, but here's the whys and wherefores....Troopers have always had a connection with cyberware, that was always part of their design- to have the cybernetic soldier. The reason they have bonus to essense is that indeed they are the masters of defense and need more durable parts, but also to reflect that the gear they get is better quality, it comes from the government and the government can afford to give the Troopers the best equipment. In fact, I could even see experimental cyber or bio ware being tested on Troopers.
Edit: I should really think of all my responses and then post, instead of editing a million times |
I think I was mostly shocked at the already installed stuff. I mean, that's part of our -- techs' --job. We install stuff into cybergear. Is the stuff in the shop better quality then the stuff sold to the public in the cyber clinic?
I would really like to see techs get in on this. The government would have to hire techs to make the stuff to try out on troopers afterall. And techs would have to have knowledge of this super gear in order to fix it...and of they didn't, well, a tech would be able to notice the difference between a souped up cyber hand and the regular sort. |

PS: Someone's planning on posting a list of what the shop sells, right? For those.. curious.. non-Troopers out here. |
I'll do a more detailed list later, but here is the summary:
1) Lots of fatigues, hats, pants, etc.
2) Nightvision goggles (take THAT, face shield!).
3) Binoculars (I assume this lets you peer two rooms...).
4) Exo-skeleton like heavy armor that sells for $100-125k.
5) Nice but cheap shields ($2-5k).
6) A giant mech-like exoskeleton (not for sale, rats).
7) Cybergear that already has a chip plus the best armor type installed (interesting fact: the shop implies that eyes are sold, but they aren't!).
The some of the special chips from the last festival (climbing and swimming for hands and feet, but no stealth IIRC). _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Currently the way that the system is set up, there isn't a way to give it better quality, thus they get already installed upgrades instead. I don't think giving Troopers cybergear with an upgrade already installed negates the job of the Tech. There are still slots inside to be filled on the Trooper versions and there are still regular limbs to be upgraded. Plus there's all those repairs out there, you'll still be plenty busy.

I'd like to see this as well, I'd love to see more inter-profession involvement. I have some ideas in mind, but they haven't gotten past that idea stage yet, hopefully in the near future I can get things in motion. _________________ God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

Another suggestion for the compound. . .
- A training room where one can train heavy armor, parry, evasion, shield and tactics. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Only the full suit BDUs do, not the individual pieces parts. _________________ God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

That was a sweet idea, Morrigan. You're one to keep an eye on, you and your sneaky ways.

The woodland BDU's don't seem to be working. I tried them on at
Code: |
[Loweshish Woods]
The woods get thicker as you head further west into the forest, where the trees are closer together and seem taller. A light breeze rustles the foliage and makes the piles of dried leaves shift, releasing their acrid scent to mingle with the faint vanilla scent of the haeleio tree bark. |
Didn't improve stealth at all.
Unless it's an unseen bonus.
Also, could we get some arctic BDU's? _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

I'll look into the BDU issue, they worked fine on me when I went to that woods.
A couple updates: Cyber eyes are now available. Also, for those Troopers under level 10, there was a small bug with the name badges. If you remove and wear them again, they should now reflect the proper thing. _________________ God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

I definantly like the new trooper HQ... yeah Arctic BDUs would be a nice touch. Perhaps at some point in the future a few weapons and a couple flak jackets could appear in the shop? A few solid color packs would be welcomed. I do like the ammo pouches wish they held pulse cores. Just a thought.

PS. Kudos on the lockers thats gonna be handy. |

I might be willing to pay a Trooper for that exo-skeletal armor that soundless mentioned. Depending on look/protection. Anyone have that information?
