To start it off, a joke:
Ah, classic.
At this time, Bush is ahead with 12 votes. 89 to 77.
Georgia, Oklahoma, and Mississippi all passed their constitution amendments to ban homosexual marriage. That seems to be the only issue (other than the presidency) CNN and Fox News likes to report on.

Gay marriage AND civil union have been banned in Ohia. Virginia has banned gay marriage.
This makes me sadder and sadder to live in this country. |

Update:
Bush = 164 votes
Kerry = 112 votes
And over half of the states are spazzing out, screaming, "WE DON'T KNOW! AAAAHHHHH!" It's so great.

In any case, 50% of the population is going to be very sad tomorrow. |

You know something's wrong when it's so split. My state is still polling. Stupid PA. I went this morning to vote and it was empty. But now the polls are super crowded. It's stupid. The electoral votes are going to Kerry anyhow. |

At least Bush is leading the popular vote too this time. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

All 11 of the anti-gay marriage measures passed. Bush is projected to win. What the fuck is wrong with people? I'm so frustrated right now I could cry.

While I know there are people like our very own GM Faith who voted Bush for logical reasons, I'm very disappointed to know that there were quite a few who voted for reasons that, to me, seem just wrong. Voting for Bush because you know Bush would help keep gay marriage subdued is just, well, nasty to me.
Voting for Bush because you believe he supports the troops better than Kerry would is fine.
Voting for Bush because he'll "keep them queers in check" isn't.

A friend of mine posted this in his LiveJournal. I suppose it's relevant to how I feel at the moment...
Quote: |
"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was, when so much bad had happened?"
"But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out all the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you...that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why."
"But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holding on to something."
"What are we holding on to Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for." |

CNN says it's 256/254 Bush.
MSNBC says it's 263/239 Bush.
Hahah projections. |

It's not going to be Florida that decides it. Florida has already voted Bush in by just under 1 million votes. If anything, it will be the Ohio provisional ballots. _________________ Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! |

Okay, well, scratch what I said.
It looks like 100% of the people are unhappy now. Hopefully, once we get a result, that'll move down to 50%. I, however, doubt that Kerry can make up the large defecit with those provisional ballots. Bummer. |

You know that happy, promising, patriotic feeling we had about this time in 2001 after 9/11?
I'd like to give everyone notice that the exact opposite time is about to start. This is going to be a country of bitter, depressed, divided motherfuckers.
I don't just mean the pres. election. Also senate, house, state amendments, you name it.
But hey, if you're typical bible belt republican, everything went your way. Well except slavery didn't make it back on the ballot again, sorry. Maybe in 2008. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
