The argument could be made that internal cyber organs would feel less of an effect from an EMP wave due to the person's flesh shielding them for the most part. Not to mention that these organs would probably be made out of some super-duper metal that can withstand such things. I can see damage and some ill-effects, but not flat-out death... if only for playability's sake.

Hmmmm....an EMP wave could penetrate buildings but not flesh? Are you thinking you're Superman again? Super-duper metal? Well well, my mini-nuke grenades will be laced with kryptonite. So any shrapnel that hits you will weaken you and you'll eventually die, son of Jor-El!

First, let me state that you're coming off as nothing but a jackass with this statement. Especially given your past comments toward me.

Second, I was in a rush when I posted my suggestion. I meant to clarify that characters do have resistance to electricty (whether inate or supernatural), which would then weaken the effects of an ElectroMagneticPulse wave.

Third, you took my saying 'super-duper metal' out of the sarcastic context. We have metals in the game that are resistant to psionic (and I assume magical as well) techniques. Wouldn't it make sense that some other metal could resist electric or magnetic forces? Magnetic for sure -- let's see you pick up a lump of gold with a magnet -- but, yes, electrically-resistant metal would be a bit of a stretch. But you never know. The cyber organ could simply be shielded with some other material for all I know.

Fourth, while I know you're exaggerating with your 'mini-nuke grenades', you're really ruining the validity of your objections with it. Not to mention that I have never stated that I am Superman... at least when I wasn't obviously joking.

Fifth, are you just completely against internal cyberware to begin with? If so, please state valid reasoning beyond "well my uber 1337 weapon would totally fuck j00 up, d00d".

Actually, there is a type of armor (I forget the name at the moment) that gives god-like protection against electrical damage.

IIRC, the major weakness against cyberparts is acid.

No cyber stomachs. Sad Or cyber intestines, I guess.

That would be things made from vyeftium (like the green cogs). Only reason I know is because of my tower shield.

Code:
A vyeftium tower shield is classified as a shield.
It appears to be of above average quality and workmanship.
This armor provides slight protection against blunt damage.
This armor provides slight protection against cold damage.
This armor provides god-like protection against electrical damage.
This armor provides slight protection against erosion damage.
This armor provides slight protection against heat and fire damage.
This armor provides slight protection against piercing damage.
This armor provides slight protection against slashing damage.
This armor provides fair protection against magics.
This armor provides fair protection against psionics.
It appears this armor provides protection for the entire body.
Considering your current armor in addition to a vyeftium tower shield you would be somewhat hindered by this armor.
If you were using only a vyeftium tower shield you would not be hindered by this armor.
You think a vyeftium tower shield is basically worthless.
Roundtime: 17 sec.

And once I get a chance to redeem my Faith voucher, I will make it a prettied up tower shield as well. ::purrs:: I think the reason that it's resistant to electricity is because it's also one of the few magically resistant metals.

Tao, this one goes down in the record books. I'm defending you.

William, as an impartial observer, I read Tao's comments to be in jest and meant in fun rather than serious. I hope my saying so takes some of the edge off of whatever offense you felt.

Ugh, I feel the need to go slay someone now.

Lighten up, Tao was being amusing.

I think that is there ever is cyber organs, there will be ways to protect them. I myself and not for cyber organs completely....but I DO hope EMPs will take em out if we do have them! Or that periodically...is they break...a person will just drop dead.

That would be too funny.

Yes, I realize he was being sarcastic and witty. But I don't think I can really be blamed for taking offense when almost everything he says in regards to me is offensive. And honestly I don't know why he feels so strongly anti-William either.

And just to clarify, I'm not against EMPs in the slightest. In fact, I really hope they get implemented eventually. It's just that, you know, for the sake of playability it would be nice if there were things we could do to protect our internal (mostly vital) cyber organs from at least some of the effects. I would assume this would come in the form of special casing one can buy and attach to them like the telyron coverings and vailyron platings for the cyber arms/legs. But of course made of vyeftium (+2 points for Dante).

Tao suggested nanos awhile ago...something I like MUCH better then getting cyber hearts and stuff like that. They could be like those machine things in Jason X. Super cool. I really like how techs and medics can work together.

if you want nanotech bots, talk to me. IRL I was planning on making a career and deeply researched the material of nano carbonite rods and compatibility within organic systems and all that jazz. FYI, they already have working nano bots that can kill breast cancer cells within test rats. They arent perfect but they do the job...kinda...sorta...well not really. They do though, its pretty freakin awesome. No where even remotely possibly close to working for humans yet though.

So far, nanotechnology is very promising as a concept science.

I'm having way too much fun imagining the creation and use of nanos on characters. I wanna insert them through people's noses. Haha!

Okies first of, William, I was just joking around. And me sowwies if you took it to seriously. I was trying to get you to laugh. You may think I'm Anti-William, I may be. Heh. But most of the time when I post something, may it be a complaint, idea, or whatever. You are there in an instant to post something to try and get under my skin. And you wonder why I may be Anti-William? But anyways.....I can see cyber organs as something kewl to have in LIVE later on when the game is huge as DR.

Trevor, thanx for having my back there. <sniffles> If ya needs to kills someone. Kill Tshar. Tell him his loving pal Tao says its ok. Heh. Joking.

Kit! Kudoz to you. Keep up the graet ideas.

Nanu Nanu-Techs! Heh.
