Has the topic of cyberware versions of internal organs ever come up before? For when Surgery is released with Medics, I think it would be a fairly awesome option to have (ie. improve the outside or the inside). Some examples off the top of my head, and without spiffy names...
Heart - increase to stamina, maybe even a slight increase to HP
Lungs - increase to stamina
Liver - decreased effects of alcohol (if such is put into place in Live)
Lymph Nodes - decreased effects of illness/disease (if such is in Live)
...Then you can start coming up with racially-specific organs for the Alteri, Jaddan, Eolai, and Darju. I'm sure that four races that evolved fairly independant of one another would have developed some unique internal doodads. Not to mention that there are an endless amount of things that can be done with separate implants. I think it was mentioned somewhere that there were plans for chips that can be surgically implanted into the brain for a boost to Intellect and Mentality? If I'm wrong, it's still a cool idea.
I would think that the internal organs wouldn't give bonuses to stats like the external cyberware, but would still have a decent Essence cost. Contrast and all that.

Indeed it has. There's a lengthy old, old thread about it somewhere on this board. Cyber lungs, wired nerves, wolverine-style skeletons, etc. etc. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I'll just way for Vhen to find it and post the link. He's good like that.
But yeah, I remembered the wolverine-styled skeleton stuff. I just didn't remember anything mentioned about organs. Or the wired nerves. Oh well.

Probably through surgery, having a medic cut you open and then a technician of sufficient skill repairing the organ.
I like the idea though. Techs would need a way of scanning a person's body in order to determine internal cyberware damage.. or if not, they'd just check when you're opened up.
It'd surely give techs and medics another reason to cooperate, and give them both something to do. Faith might be persuaded to get surgery done quicker (if she's still working on it) if you'd all post on the medic board. ;D _________________ Something wicked this way comes... |

Heh, I read, but surgery is not the next item on my list to complete. I have a couple of other projects to get finished and rolled out before I even begin to consider internal wounds and surgery.
So, the short answer is, yes, I'm interested. Yes, I think it would be a pretty cool thing to work on and get rolled out for both Techs and Medics, but it's not my first priority at the moment. Cool ideas though. _________________ Counselor Faith Tempest

You of course realize, that the Medic's would not be able to use a Cardiostimulator to revive you if you had a plastic heart, right? At least that's my take on it. |

Well, a metal heart work on batteries and electricity from batteries...or maybe just from a person's essence. They'd probably need a different tool to revive you. |

I would be fine with cyber hearts preventing you from being revived. Not everything in the game should have bonuses without correlating penalties.

Sweet, always wondered if I could jump start my medicmobile off a metal heart. _________________ Niefl talkin to Rose about his 'relationship' with Mickey

I think that getting into cyber organs is a bad idea. Especially when Kit and Thorne start creating micro-nuke grenades that'll give render cyber parts and equipment useless from the EMPs it gives off and instantly killing anyone with a cyber heart or any other vital organ.
