Just for the hell of it, let's have a thread where people can show off their spiffy desktops. For the sake of keeping the thread table aligned properly (because, you know, smaller monitors are stabbed with scrollbars when large images come into play), let's keep this to keep this to just links. Such as...

http://abs.gprime.net/6desktop.JPG

...yeah. That's my laptop's. My desktop at home has Litestep -- which is a replacement for the normal window's "explorer" shell and is apparently more efficient with cpu usage -- and I have a sweet skin on it. When I go home this weekend I'll post the screen-cap. I'd have Litestep on my laptop but it messes with my Function keys for some reason.

The calender thing in the bottom right corner is a program called "Rainlender". It's a nice, simple way to keep important dates and appointments organized and ready at a glance. And I do have more games than the three sitting on the bottom... those are just the three I seem to be playing the most lately.

For those that don't know how to do this (for Windows):
1. Press the "Print Screen" (PrtScrn) button, usually along the top of the keyboard.
2. Open MSPaint in the Accessories folder.
3. Press CTRL+V.
4. Under File, click save.
5. Pick where you want to save it and what you want to name it; make sure you save it as a JPG (JPEG).
6. Upload the image to a hosting site. I really suggest http://abs.gprime.net (no www)
7. Come here and paste the URL and add whatever commentary you'd like.

Yeah, I know those steps more-or-less just work for Windows. I've never had a Macintosh, so, yeah. You're on your own I suppose.

Saiyuki, my love. Not my greatest love...hm. Maybe I should make a desktop devoted to Miki Shin'ichirou...

Yay for the stuff on the bottom too. Downloading the last ep of Sailor Moon Live Action...aww. I like how the killed everyone in this version. And my text document for the skit for Beau tommorrow night...and my ever ongoing linguistics paper.

Hum.

This is only temporary (through Halloween), but here it is:

http://www.geocities.com/faithtempest/images/desktop.jpg

I hate a cluttered desktop, I'll probably even remove the icons currently on it. Regularly used programs are in my Quick Launch Toolbar, Other programs are in Start Menu of course.. Documents are stored in My Documents, which is also on my Start Menu.

I've normally got a bunch of windows up (Go multi-tasking!) and covering most of my desktop, and minimizing is one step too many to get to programs or files I need to open.

Sorry for the long links... and my desktop is actually at 1600x1200, but I'd have to lower the quality to be able to fit it on photobucket. I have one of those wallpaper-changer programs, so my tower wallpaper is different every day... today it's Gunslinger Girl (good show).

Yeah, I don't like desktop icons. I use glass2k to make my taskbar transparent, a hacked copy of uxtheme.dll to get the skin (skin from deviantart), and Y'z dock for the dock at the bottom. Oh, icons from different Gant packs.

Whee.

In case you're really curious...

Tower icons: my computer, my docs, opera, firefox, thunderbird, folder, gaim, foobar2k, mirc, OOo, PS, PowerDVD, GoPlay, NWN, Stepmania (set up for keyboard), Stepmania (set up for pad), q3, ut2k4, wc3, zsnes.

Laptop icons: My comp, my docs, firefox, t-bird, folder, gaim, foobar2k, GoPlay, OOo, PowerDVD, SecureCRT, VS.NET.

PS: I'm not really all emo and crap, I just really liked that wallpaper.

The picture I have is a screenshot from warcraft 3 featuring a very wierd battle between a mass of workers, and a mass of siege units. Neither should be fighting on it's own (the workers shouldn't be fighting at all really) yet there you have it...

Can guarentee you no one else has this desktop Very Happy.

(The siege units won btw Sad (And I was not either of those fighting))

I have...Style XP which normally rethemes my computer once a day (I get bored with the same thing day in and day out), but I'm leaving the holiday one up until Halloween is over.

I get a lot of my themes from here:

http://hem.bolina.hsb.se/ingalills-theme-creations/index.html

She's not very good at making websites (although I think someone just took that part over for her), but she's damn good at making pleasing and eye appealing desktop themes for Windows.

Oooh, thanks for the link, Faith! I was looking around for some new wallpaper. Though that irritating enya crap is driving me crazy...*mute* Ahhhh...blessed silence.

This is what I've been using for the last few months:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/pambunny/misc/desktop1.gif

This is what I recently changed to for Halloween:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/pambunny/misc/desktop2.gif

And in case anyone is wondering why my desktop is so bare of items, it's because I find it irritating to have my stuff cluttered all over the place. That and usually, I hate having to close my web browsers just to click stuff which are hidden behind it. (My web browsers tend to take up the top half of my desktop.

So everything I use regularly (or semi-regularly) is here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/pambunny/misc/desktopmenu.gif

Very Happy

I keep my desktop pretty spartan, for the most part, and most stuff organized by theme/use/application.

Savitar! I used to co-GM a game with Jay Koutavas, actually. Very cool, down-to-earth guy.

Yeah, I think it used it twice so far.

Normally I just load Yaru up on exp and then go to school, leaving him on my laptop at home.

It looks cool, but the scroll + plain text can get a bit overbearing.

Mah desktop.

The desktop matches my tower...hee hee... One of these days I'll actually get around to making a desktop for myself rather than taking one from the web.

When I was Winamp-crazy, I used to love using that skin.
