Holy. Tits.
Screw Windows Vista.

The big thing that I enjoyed about it is that all of that eyecandy is running on roughly 256mb of RAM. Whereas even the most basic of eyecandy in Windows Vista (eg., window shadows) is going to require 512mb of RAM.
Granted, Microsoft is going through a complete code streamlining rewrite for Vista before they release it. But I doubt they're going to reduce the RAM requirements that much.

I run Novell Linux (SUSE 10) on my work laptop. It has its issues too, and don't forget that simply installing anything is a lot more work than installing stuff on a PC.
Typical ease of use for desktop operating systems, including installations, configurations and basic control over how your OS works (not just the eye candy). Mac is the easiest with the least control, PCs are fairly easy with some control, and Linux is by far the most complicated, but gives you the most control over your system and security.
Anyway, my point is not even Linux is perfect. I've had issues with my current version, namely:
1) The Gnu spreadsheet likes to crash, so I use OpenOffice's.
2) If you typo the root password in the SU terminal, it doesn't error, it just closes the window.
3) Yast never ever loads aligned. It's always half or more off the screen and has to be moved.
4) Downloading, configuring, compiling and installing Kismet turned out to be a royal pain in the ass...and it wasn't due to Kismet itself.
And that's just off the top of my head. So beware of 'eye candy', as Microsoft has shown us, it's not -all that-. _________________

I thought it looked cool, but I got bored half thru the video (ok more like 15% thru but I stuck with it to half) and closed it. The only thing I actually found desirable to be honest was the virtual desktop stuff. The pretty graphic effects are nice but I tend to turn all that stuff off anyway to make my system run cleaner, faster. But then, to me my OS isn't the point of my computer, my OS is a vehicle to make the things I want to use work well. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Google Calender! I can see this being quite handy. At the very least, it'll give me something to do in between walk-ins at the Red Cross tomorrow. Zoom.

I think my favorite thing they've done (and has provided hours of amusement for me) is Google Earth...I just wish it was real time. Some of those satellite photos are way old. _________________

Cruise also said he's going to give his family seminars on the birth process, what Katie is going through etc. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
