Since security is triple train for us, just like it is for agents, we should be able to create some nice equiptment to handle traps. I'm not talking about picks and wenches, I'm talking about glow hand-held devices...ala Star Trek with sensors and stuff...
ESSPECIALLY since we're going to get traps now! |

You wave a trap scanner over a caisson box. Your sensors pick up signs of a sharp but rusty needle that's ready to pop out and poke anyone trying to pick this box. _________________ Lick or Be Licked |

Assuming that the locks are going to be similar to their real life counterparts (read: small openings with internal tumblers), how would a piece of intricate technology work to much of an advantage?
Are you talking about something that increases your chances of disarming a trap properly? I can see how knowing what kind of trap it is -- before the first attempt, that is -- would help somewhat, since you'll know to be extra careful in some cases, but I don't see what else of a benefit there could be.
By the way. I can't find the thread (though I'm sure Vhen will have no trouble) where Zoz mentioned he had plans for Techs being able to construct magnetic locks whenever that system rolls out. The best lock ever, essentially.

I dunno it kinda makes sense if there was some sort of scanner that x-rayed a box, not only telling you vaguely what was in it, but any sort of trap mechanism. It may not be able to tell you what triggers it, but maybe if your security skill is high enough, you'll have experience with traps and will be able to deduce where the trigger is and how it works. I think it would be very helpful. _________________ Why use logic when you can just...make stuff up? |

So basically a device that would give a temporary bonus to disarming that one particular box?

In a technical sense, yes. I think it makes perfect sense though, as in reality anything that served the same purpose would really only help you master that one box anyway. Think...Ocean's Eleven. All that work they did gave them a bonus to open and rob that particular safe. They'd need to do it all over again for a different safe. _________________ Why use logic when you can just...make stuff up? |

Although and x-ray chip placed in cybereyes would give a more constant bonus to security.
And, as a bonus you can stare at Haidee's [lack of] undergarments! _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Wouldn't x-ray vision just let you see her pelvis (given that you're looking in that region)?

We're talking about the x-ray things found in back of 80s comic books. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Yes. So don't even think about trying it. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Haven't you ever wondered how you would control how "Deep" you look? I mean, Gauze clothing versus full armor, how do you control that? And if she wore a slip, rather then JUST panties, you would see the slip rather then the panties. And besides all that, that's just disgusting!!!! And just imagine if you looked too far, and saw something icky, like their stomach contents. |

Handheld electromagnet devices. Small mini-charges. Ways of detonating traps safely by remote control. A skeleton key-like device that works on a complex code aimed at at shifting the shape of the key in random ways until the lock pops.

Trap detection devices. You scan a box and it tells you if it's trapped and what the trap probably is. |
