I think it would be cool if some rooms had interactive terrain. Like trees you can hide behind or rocks you can take cover behind, I dunno how hard that would be for you to make happen but its a cool idea none the less. |
This is more or less an issue for area builders. They'd need mechanics in place which aren't, but once they were, builders would have to place objects in rooms. We could assume objects based on terrain -- such as rocks to hide behind if the rock terrain is high enough. However, this would remove the ability of staff to designate which kind of rocks are there, which is a design issue. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Are there going to be areas where the range can't go beyond pole? Beyond melee? Hallways and caves and such, I mean. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I remember there being mention of Troopers gaining some kind of Formation ability that aligned peoples in a group to a certain pattern that modified the defenses/offenses of those people appropriately. This was back when the grid-based engagement system was in play.
With that out, is there any possibility of this still happening, even if it's generally just assumed that everyone is standing in "Pattern Omega Delta-4"?
Or am I just imagining the whole ability?

Nope, you're not imagining it, yes there will be formations for Troopers, though I haven't worked through the details yet. Most likely I'm going to get missions and some of the other things discussed in the meeting together before tackling those. _________________ God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.

The engagement system will stay up in the sparring grounds during development, unless someone manages to break it badly enough that I have to turn it off.
Posting DETAILED descriptings of any messaging errors here will help them get fixed a whole lot faster.
Within the next week or so, the appropriate portions of combat will be rewritten to use the proper distance calculations, and the engagement verbs will hopefully be fleshed out a bit more. _________________ HR-Marduk

I would think that they'd try to avoid engaging creatures/people altogether, preferring to smite their foes with their juujuu.
Of course, almost all mages and psionics train combat stuff, so.

Will we get some kinda 'charge' verb? Kinda like a rush move that costs some stamina and maybe balance to get to melee alot faster? _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |
