Will the new punching daggers require unarmed, or bladed skill to work best? _________________ Behind every optic is a mathematic. |

i know this is off the previous topic of the thread, but here it goes anyways... and if this has already been suggested, then oops.
was thinking about a wider range of marksmanship weapons. I know fully automatic would unbalance the hell out of things, but maybe a marksmanship weapon, like an assault rifle, switchable from single shot to, say, a three shot burst. also, the possibility of a folding stock, to require one hand, or both, with maybe a skill penalty to marksmanship to fire it one handed. Would be glad to hear what everyone thinks about this... |

As for the punching daggers I think that logically it would take a bit of unarmed and bladed weapons skill to wield sufficiently. Yes if your jabbing a dagger attached to your hand it would take unarmed skill but slashing at something with your hand would require bladed skill because if you are fighting unarmed you wouldn't ever want to wave your fist side to side in front of the person. As for the markmanship weapons mentioned I think that the foldable stock option would be very nice because you could whip out two heavy hitters, needing only to have one hand to hold the weapon, but by cutting down the hit percentage it would be cool to be able to fold the stock out to really get at em. _________________ -Ronst Gahn |

Guess you arent very familiar with martial arts? side palm strikes (espcially in Green Dragon Style) are extremely powerful and easily used unarmed strikes that require a quick side swipe. Even in grappling. Suppose youre chest to chest with something....best chance is to side-fist smash them in the face, perferably on the bridge of their nose.
Also very very common, more so than in attacks, is how you block an attack. Take a rising block for instance. Hold your forearm (bones) parallel to your chest and rise it up till your wrist is about an inch or so from your forehead, underarm exposed upwards. Another very classical sweeping motion of the arm in combat, used for defense in this instance. _________________ Niefl talkin to Rose about his 'relationship' with Mickey

I'm not familiar with that. Hmm, sounds interesting. But what I was trying to convey was that a swipe of a blade and the swipe of a fist can be very similar but there is the matter of the blade being longer than your arm normally and therefore you'd need to be associated with bladed weapons in order to attack correctly when executing a swipe.
As far as the Green Dragon, that sounds cool. I should take a look into that. _________________ -Ronst Gahn |
