Any chance of getting a breakdown of how the stances work? |

Well, Fot'mtofvat makes your defenses go to crap. A guard hit me for the first time in about 5 levels... but that's all I know. |

I'm not sure if I want to reveal the specific strengths and weaknesses of the individual stats, I'll have to think on that...
In general, stats rearrange bonuses and penalties to various combat abilities. No one stance is "best" since they all balance out, though depending on how you train, a certain stance might be "best" for you specifically. One might raise offense and lower defense, while another might be faster but more tiring. A few require training in other skills to work well, dancing for the Eolai stance, medicine for the Alteri stance, athletics for wrestling, and ecology for the tracker stances. _________________ ~Hunter~ |

I was playing around with the stances. . . .came to a few guesses about them .. . .not sure if Im right or not. . . .we pretty much have to guess what they do. . .
Fot'mtofvat - darju - bonus to stun/knock down
Vamgoga Dok - jaddan - power bonus? makes all moves hit harder or just the powerful moves hit harder? more stamina loss
Shunashorn Doko - jaddan - definitely defense bonus. . .though i havent tested it yet. . . but could just draw that conclusion with common sense. prolly some kinda offense loss
Yivaceisiweixei - alteri - I have no medicine skill. . . .maybe slight stun bonus. . . unarmed spearhand attack becomes significantly stronger.
Wrestling - human - I have no athletics skill. . . bonus to wrestling type moves. . hip toss and body slam. . headbutt maybe
Boxing - human - bonus to punches and kicks, hooks and uppercuts
Aeceo Eocef - eolai - not sure on this one. . I have no dance skill. .
Do stances affect ALL types of combat? Or just melee or what? _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Some of those guesses are right, some aren't... let me give you a little more info for experimentation. The following things are effected by stances, each independently and by varable amounts.
Defence, Damage, Acuracy, Stuns, Knockdowns, Crits, Stamina, Balance, and RTs. _________________ ~Hunter~ |

My stamina was at 97 or something. Probably just a lucky shot.
My observations on stances:
Vamgoga Dok - Also there's a slight increase in RT... The only thing that changed for me was uppercut - went from 4 to 5 seconds.
Shunashorn Doko - I think this also has a stamina bonus.
Wrestling - Judging from what Gunther says, I think this helps knockdowns, but that's hard to test.
And then, just guesses from what Hunter said
Yivaceisiweixei - Stun bonus
Aeceo Eocef - Balance bonus |

Fot'mtofvat - knockdown bonus for sure. . .was knocking guards down like every other hit
Yivaceisiweixei - stun and accuracy bonus i think. . .assuming you have medicine skill
Aeceo Eocef - Im betting this one gives the RT bonus with good dancing skills. . . .im not gonna get some dancing to find out though heh
Shunashorn Doko - defence and balance maybe. . .gonna head to snakes or skeletons and check on it sometimes today _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Will we see any melee weapon oriented stances (including pole)? I'm getting jealous of these unarmed punks (see: William). |

All the stances can be used with weapons, though the foundation of weapons training is unarmed training. So you'll need some unarmed to learn, but once you know the foundation you can use it for weapons. It's progressivly harder to learn more stances, so if you just want to know a few you really don't need much unarmed, just choose wisely _________________ ~Hunter~ |

Well I broke down and invested in some dancing and tried the Aeceo Eocef stance for a bit. . . .it didnt seem to help balance. . .didnt notice any reduced RT attacks. . . definitely didnt help my accuracy at all. . tried a variety of attacks then 5 of each targetting the same body parts. . .Hardly any of them landed on target.. . .So i dunno _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

Well, the racial stances are more effective for those of the intended race. You might just not be at the "threshold" yet with all of the factored rolls. That's how it was for me and Snowfall when I first got it; I didn't start seeing much consistancy with it until I hit 8th or so level (read as: the skills required were decent enough, along with my stat spread).
Did that make any sense?

yea it made sense. . . but even then we are all still guessing here. . . and could be guessing wrong totally. . . only real way for us to know what these stances do is if hunter or someone that designed them. . .tells us. _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |
