Ya Know....
Maybe ya should fix it so that "Critter Names" had to be spelled out completely
and not just the first 3 letters....
Or maybe fix it so players are not attacked by they last names....
Tonite, on the island of Jareya, I was in a hunt party that came upon
some critters named of " darga vei "....
I can only assume that others were "attack dar", but despite my plea's,
I was slain...
Lets just say "I Was Not Amused!"
Maybe this should be looked into before others are hurt... _________________ Traythyn Darkwater

When I was a GS3 player, I had a character with a name starting in Mer and got killed during an invasion with Mercenaries. I had one starting in Tro and got killed in Trolls. I've seen people use -one- letter and it happen from that. I know, it sucks.
I think having to type out a fill critter name would annoy people. But, I could make it ignore last names. Hell, I could make every command ignore last names. I've heard at least one person complain about that. In MO we were used to it so it was convenient, especially if you had a Dan and a Daniel, some commands where you were targetting Dan would grab Daniel instead so being able to use last name was nice. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Well being able to use a last name in addition to a first name is useful, but I certainly wouldn't mind if we were unable to reference a person solely by their last name. I know I always have trouble accessing my mortar (or things inside of it) if Nivza is in the room, even if she's hiding. |

While this is not 100% foolproof, I hope this will do:
UPDATE 11/30/03: Combat and even most general commands will now parse objects and NPC's before people. This means if Dan and a Darga Vei are in the same room and you type ATTACK D, it should select the Darga Vei instead of Dan. Likewise, some other non-combat commands will do the same. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Thanx Trevor
It was really no fun being on the receiving end of an angry mob... _________________ Traythyn Darkwater
