|
|
I was wondering if someone might be troubled to take a look at the appraissals of the medieval armors, particularly the full heavy armors at Iteo Medieval in the Eolai sector.
If I remember correctly I was unhindered in the heaviest telyron suit in the mall at about 40 ranks in heavy armor, and unhindered in the standard klulza (the most hindering modern heavy armor I could find) at about 45.
Now, at about 60 ranks in armor, I'm unhindered in every single piece of heavy armor I can find, except for the four full suits on the stand and Iteo Medieval. This despite the fact that, for the most part, they protect worse than the modern armors.
My question is whether modern armor is supposed to be this much more powerful than the medieval armor, or are the medieval protections/hinderances just that out of wack?

I thought I'd post some of my data so that other people (who can't simply look at the code) can weigh in. Below is a chart of protections for the armors, as well as the levels needed to train them down to unhindered. Note, the kashanvanana plate also protects hands, head, eyes, and feet.
Code: |
Material Klulza Siege Kash Plate
Blunt Decent Decent Decent
Cold Poor Decent Fair
Elect Decent Decent Fair
Eros Decent Decent Decent
Heat Poor Decent Fair
Magic None None None
Pierce Fairly Good Decent Decent
Psi None None None
Slash Decent Decent Decent
Level 13 11 >17
|
Notice the standard klulza and siege telyron are fairly close in protection and hinderance, but the kashanvana plate, which protects the same or less in every catagory than the telyron, has a much, much higher level of hinderance.

Actually, generally medieval armors are superior versus normal physical attacks, but they are susceptible to electrical attacks and in some cases heat. Some medieval armors also provide magic and/or mental resistances as well.
Modern armors are well-rounded but favor electrical and piercing resistances most since they are built to counter guns and pulse specifically.
The best armor available in overall power is a medieval armor. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

BTW, better examples to compare to would be Vellian, Drachna, and Llirae plate armors. The slash resistance on vellian plate is a whopping 36% for example. The best modern armor for slash protection is klulza standard, at 22%
However, be forewarned, vellian and drachna are heavy metals. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

Odd. I have drachna down as fairly good for it's highest resistance (against cold) and illarae down as good for it's highest (against heat and fire). And I seem to have entirely missed the fact that vellian armor even exists, any chance you could point me as to where to find it?

Also, I wasn't necessarily calling into question the protections, just the amount of hinderance for that protection. By my estimates (I stopped taking hard data a while ago, but I've been paying attention to the hinderance levels) the kashanvana plate will drop to not hindered at around 25th minimum, assuming I'm within a level of seeing the first drop on the titanium plate.
On a related note, I've noticed a distinct lack of heavy armor which protects against magic, unless there's a shop whose existance I'm completely oblivious to.

The armor that protects best against magic is a light armor material (vyeftium), which is why you are having problems finding some that does. You could try getting a vyeftium shield instead of light armor though. |

It is possible that vellian plate doesn't exist in a shop. <takes notes> _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
