That depends <g> Each droid will require two different personality chips (one active, one passive) to complete it's installation. These personalities are going to be based on common archetypes, so for some of them, like the 'fanatic' personality, you might get the impression that it's going haywire on you when it's in fact just being itself.
However, damage sustained to certain parts of the droid will definitely cause things to go wrong.
