I like the current lockpicking set-up ... well, mostly. The only problem I have is that it's neigh on impossible (without a bunch of damage to your picks) to pick a lock with one hand. You need both hands to manipulate both the pick and wrench simultaneously. Anyways, that aside, the other problem I have with it ... is that you can only use lockpicking kits. You can't just carry around a lockpick and wrench and be able to pick a lock. You can't even stick lockpicks in another container and pick locks. For example ...
Code: |
You carefully scan over a ragged silbein chest but don't see any sort of trap.
Roundtime: 9 sec.
get wallet
You get a slim black breast wallet from some ethereal black sleeveless robes with a collar closure.
open wallet
You open a slim black breast wallet.
pick che
You don't have the tools to pick that.
l in wallet
Inside a slim black breast wallet you see a steel long double-ended pick, a steel double ball pick, a short twist tension wrench, and a long twist tension wrench. |
So you absolutely have to carry around a lockpicking kit. While this really isn't much of a problem, I for one would like to be able to use other things, like the wallet used in the example, to carry around my lockpicks.
So, since this is a suggestion thread, would it be possible to include more items with which to hold and use lockpicks? Or at least be able to designate something for lockpicks? _________________ Life is grand. When its released that a certain type of box needs wrench F and pick C, and you can tell this information from appraising it, I'd like to be able to just have wrench F and pick C in my hand when I go to pick the lock. |

Where'd you hear that? That's the first I had ever heard of that particular release. And, I'm not sure if we're going for realism with it, but in case we are, it's completely realistic to be able to use one lockpick (a diamond rake) on a vast array of locks without the need to switch to a double ball pick. _________________ Life is grand. i'm all for more containers, though. this is why yaru had his kit altered into a keychain. i wanted something a bit more than the same thing everyone has to buy.

First time I've heard of this plan, too. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

I meant in real life with this comment. You absolutely need two hands to unlock a lock using a pick and a wrench. Granted, there are other ways to go about it (i.e. Lock blasters, jigglers, etc) but those are for various types of locks in general. Even when I was at work, and even today, I carry two lockpicks and a wrench in my wallet, just in case. So it's really not absurd to be able to carry them in such a fashion. _________________ Life is grand. I do know what you mean about using both hands but I myself don't really pay attention too much on the technicality of it as long as it gets the job done. I believe that the picking system is coded to autograb from the lockpick kits. So putting the picks and wrenches in regular containers wouldnt really work. The whole system would have to be revamped. As far as having a different variety of containers specifically for the picks and wrenches I'd love to see that. If you can't wait, then do what Yaru did and get one altered. _________________ Lick or Be Licked |
