What browser (and version of it) are you using? Also, try right clicking on one of the missing image's placeholder get the URL for the .GIF in the properties and then try to go to that URL manually and tell me what happens?

running firefox for os x here.
the gifs apparently "contain errors", which is the message i got w hen i tried to manually view it when it didn't show up.

I can't check into it from my location, but I'll check a few things later. I think perhaps that it might be changes to the configuration for PHP since we upgraded it fairly recently.

if it's a problem with corrupted gifs, w3c's validator wouldn't pick it up.

It seems to only affect the forum from what I have heard. I looked into it some yesterday, but it's pretty bizarre. The images are fine. They download just fine for some users and not others. I made some adjustments to PHP yesterday (as well as the forum) but I suppose it didn't help.

It seems to be working fine for me at home where I use Firefox but the one at work still has some slight problems.

Clear your cache, reload, etc. see if that helps. Try an alternate browser on the machine if possible, too.
