I remember there being a thread a while back about whether or not it was beneficial to train in multiple types of defence but can't seem to find it.
What my question is, if someone trains in both parry and Evasions, would the system do a check for first the successful parry, then if they fail to block a successful dodge? Or is it better to only focus on one type of Defense? _________________ One must have knowledge beyond learning, and wisdom beyond understanding to say what can or cannot be. |

You never use both on one attack. If you use parry and fail, you fail, etc.
However, parry is more effective than evasion and will defend more often. That said, not all attacks can be parried and if you are in parry defense and a fireball is hurled your way or gun shot at you (for instance) you will try to evade automatically since parry isn't possible in that case.
So for optimal defense, both. If you wanted ultimate defense you could train all three and be in parry defense, carrying a shield (which is used in many cases where evasion would be, automatically if you have a shield in hand) and evasion in the few cases where shield can't even help.
However, if you're tight on skill points and defense is only a relatively small concern to you, just evasion and nothing else will serve your needs. _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato
