i'm not sure if everyone likes having stuff broadcast to the world (so many this can be a SET option for yes/no stuff), but one thing i've seen in other MUDs that is pretty nice is that when you reach certain levels a global message announces it or something.
ie: if someone becomes a level 70 artisan, you'd see something like

while a level 40 medic would get

maybe even the prince can congradulate someone on hitting 100 while also adding some fanfare. the first part would be a global messaage, while the second is once again on the comm.
