I wish I could say it would bother me the next time I'm eating KFC, but man... original recipe with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. <slobber> _________________ Mickey Brunner

I can avoid KFC, but are they really the only fast food chain that allows that level of cruelty with their suppliers? Growing up on a farm a lot of that seemed par for the course, until they cut off the beaks that didn’t make sense to me. I know those little peckers will chase you down and attack. Occasionally it can hurt, but that still doesn’t seem right. Oops, my redneck roots are showing. _________________ Good laws have their origins in bad morals- Ambrosius Macrobius |

Chik-Fil-A comes to mind as far as national chains go, and pretty much any restaurant that serves wings or chicken entrees (Pizza Hut and Long John Silver are owned by the same people as KFC) of any variety, and then local chicken spots (TX has Church's, I think).
I'll grant that abusing your poultry flock doesn't make a lot of sense, but I'm not entirely sure what kind of acoutrements PETA feels should be given to an animal raised solely for inevitable slaughter; going out of their way to provide comfortable, anxiety-free environments for several million chickens before they go on the block can't be anything but inefficient and non cost-effective. _________________ Mickey Brunner

I really think this is just a conspiracy by PETA to turn everyone into Vegans. They show as many disgusting, abusive videos of animal cruelty during food prep, and people will stop eating meat all together. If you think about it though, what would those poor chickens be good for then? Or veal for that matter? I mean the other white meat. Wait, maybe I'm thinking of pork. hee hee! _________________ Good laws have their origins in bad morals- Ambrosius Macrobius |

I see PETA in the same light as the ACLU: They're both well-intended and could do a lot of good for the world, if they'd only choose their publicity-laden battles a little more wisely. _________________ Mickey Brunner

I just find it amusing that PETA's vice president not only is a diabetic and has to take insulin (made from dog before it can be synthesised and therefore is animal tested//an animal product), but that they kill more cats and dogs then the SPCA every year by putting them down. And they give terrorists like ALF and Earth One money so that they can destroy property, kill people, and ruin crops that could feed millions. Oh, and they believe that having pets is evil....but they almost all have pets. Confused! So yeah, I think PETA sucks. I'm all about loving the animals....but PETA is just filled with hypocritical assholes and terrorist backers. Here are some PETA-is-evil sites!

That said, I've seen the throw the chicken heads into the fans video. Not really that disgusting. It amazes me that people can stomach that violent stuff on TV when it comes to people...but have one slab of meat for dinner and they satanize you. ^.^; Guess that sounds funny coming from a vegetarian. Though, I'm a vegetarian for health reasons, not because I want to save cows. I've been to farms. Cows are GROSS. Eww. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Just nitpicking, but I do not believe they still gather insulin from slaughterhouses (or dead dogs, in this case). I know they first discovered diabetes and, therefor, insulin through animal testing, but I don't think you can blame that on PETA's vice president.
If I'm not mistaken, they use bacteria to mass produce insulin now. Which, I'm sure you'll agree, is a lot more humane since it's considered a waste product by the bateria.

I had meant that insulin was first manufactored -- before synthesised as it is today -- from animal byproducts. Without testing on animals, the vice president of PETA would be dead. PETA says that animal testing is foul and they even say that if a cure from AIDS was found through animal testing, they'd be against it. And yet, good old miss PETA-VP seems to have forgotten that the insulin she uses to live would not have been available to her without animal testing.
I'm all for animal testing, by the way. I'm more pro-human then I am pro animal. And even more then I am anti-PETA. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage
