Go to hear..and as someone who has sold a DR character (at my coming to HR) and goods recently for real money..I can definatly see its interests. What I don't like however, is how gold farming has inpacted other games such as WoW and the like. |
It might be better on a case by case basis. I saw a 20th (max) level GW character + 1.1 million going for $1500, which borders on absurd for me.
On the other hand, after spending a couple days scraping up a cumulative total of about 500 gold to get a piece of armor crafted, I felt like I'd just paid off a mortgage -- for a single piece of sub-par armor only 10 points better than the stuff my character started with. In that case, $20 for fifty thousand seems pretty reasonable -- an hour's wage for a chunk of rainy-day money is easily justified. _________________ Mickey Brunner

I'd totally consider selling game cash (what little I have that Haidee hasn't spent). But I wouldn't buy any. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

guarenteed alterations I think are a bad idea.
I thought one of the goals of this game as apposed to certain others was that you could play free. (one character, missing out on a few things) or you could pay once price and not have to pay extra for each lil thing that came along.
Wasnt that one of the main things about Simu is they did things for money as apposed to doing things for the player. Like the forty dollar quests and the ridiculous weddings. |
what i was saying was that the normal merchants would come, go, etc, like they always did. everyone could get those.
meanwhile, say once a month (or longer as the playerbase goes up), Mickey or Faith or someone could fly down and do a bunch of alterations (just look/tap/read, nothing stat or etc) for the people who pay to play.
that kind of system to me would be fine. i don't mind paying a bit extra so i can have my character(s) look they want i want them to look. it's all fluff and has no real affect on the game's balance, with the exception that someone might go sell that alteration for cash (which is still not unbalancing really). _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

i think that nomatter how hard anyone tries, people will still sell/trade IG stuff for OOG stuff.
personally, i think it's silly to spend crazy amounts of money on a video game, but then again that's also why i stopped playing M:tG years ago. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I sold my DR character for 600...so I know the value of characters for lazy people. I probably would sell the cash I can make in HR (spread across all my characters minus what I just paid for the party...I have about 7.5 to 8 mil). Not for $10.00 a mil. Probably I'd sell it for 500k for $10. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I've bought gil online for FFXI. I make good money IRL. Why spend countless hours farming the IG cash when I can just have it delivered to me IG for RL money that amounts to 30-60 minutes of 'working'? _________________ It is better to be pissed off than pissed on. |

That's the one reason I can understand people buying items, money, whatever. Time is our most valuable economy. If you really dislike the "grind" part of games and would rather spend RL money to avoid the time-sink in a game, then I can understand doing so.
It's really just a question of how much we value things, and what parts of a game we call fun or enjoyable. Some could even argue they don't find the grind enjoyable but do find adhering to strict rules of getting what they want on their own steam to be "fun". _________________ "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." -- Plato

And I, on the other hand can barely afford to pay the $10 a month for HR.. there's no way in hell I'd be spending real money on a text anything. _________________ Stay true to yourself no matter the cost and you'll always know who you are. |
