Marketing angle: “We’re making the gorgeous Game Boy Micro for image-conscious folks who love video games, the ones who want the look of their system to be as cool as the games they play on it”

It just looks...bland. And boring. And...not worth my money.

The point they were making is that the Micro isn't a (compartively) thick and neon-coloured console like the regular gameboy. The Micro is supposed to not be all that much bigger than a regular cellphone. Plus it's a horizontal setup, similar the PSP, and we know that trend is doing well.

I don't understand why people refuse to buy a gaming console based on the console's appearance. What matters is the game and how the console can handle that game. Granted, I don't too much like the PS3 because it had a convex curve on the top.. which isn't very appealing visually to me. But if it has really kickass game releases, I'll probably consider picking one up (when the price comes down). The same goes for the 360 and its concave tap. I'm just going to mooch off other people for awhile after the release frenzy; there's nothing wrong with that.

It's not the appearance exactly. I was responding to what the guy on the website said. It ain't 'gorgeous.' It's not 'cool.' And it's too small. It means I'll need to buy the magnifying screen too...just more money for a bland, boring little machine. I'll stick to my SP. Besides, I only got SP for Crystal Chronicles...which we beat in three days. So yeah. I'm not big on portable games. That's what books are for.

Yes, yes we did. And looking back, if I was buying any of the gameboys for aestetic reasons...I'd have missed out on lots of fun games. I was so thrilled when they started making them with backlights.

Backlights? We don' need no steenkin' backlights... did anyone else have one of these? I'm afraid I might still actually have this somewhere.

I had the Pac-Man one. Or did, until I used it to bludgeon a neighbor kid in the head and got it taken away.
