What do you think about PvP |
I love PvP. I play these sorts of games because of PvP. |

I like PvP in a controlled setting. I like to spar sometimes, but I don't like the idea of people being able to kill me outside of certain areas. |

I'm indifferent. I neither like nor dislike PvP or I don't have an opinion. |

I don't like PvP. I don't like the idea of my character being ruled by anyone but myself (ex: taking the risk of dying from hunting vs. taking the risk of annoying someone and having them come after me for no real reason). |

I'm going to be putting out a few polls. Mainly, these come from questions brought up at Beau's little chat session a few days ago.
First one:
What do you think about PvP?
The 'indifferent' catagory should also have the option that you find PVP to be a part of the game, but not an endall and beall part. It's the option for people that aren't adamant eitherway about it. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

i picked indifferent because there was no real option for me.
while i don't love pvp and play haelrahv just for pvp, i also think pvp belongs in the game. there's no "yes i think pvp should be here" option. it's either "no pvp sucks" or "yes i'm here just to kill you all!" _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I think PVP is a neccesary evil. (for the most part)
Am I looking forward to it again? YES.
Do I intend on killing anyone and everyone because I can or they stepped on my toes? NO.
Will I take contracts. YES, but I may investigate a lil into the reasonings or atleast request a reason. Hey Im the one that might go to jail, its my right.
So needless to say I didnt vote because there really isnt an option for me.
As far as sparring..... personally I liked the chance of death in a spar.
I remember the cemetary spars in DR. It was exciting to participate in. You knew somone was going to die. Most likely many people. As my empath I took every oppurtunity to push her limits healing during these situations and as a combatant its a hell of a rush. Even as a spectator its alot of fun to me. There never seemed a lack of people willing to die either to test thier metal against thier piers. _________________ Mellie Amresh says, "Send someone with a bigger dick."

I purposely didn't put those options. I don't think PvP sucks. I think there's a place for it. The 'indifferent' option, in my opinion, is pretty much the same as saying 'pvp belongs here.' I don't really agree that these games need PvP, and I don't think people that engage in PvP are going to be murder happy either. My wording was extremely care and you still managed to read into it things that I didn't say and didn't mean to say. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I would definately place you in the either or category. I should have been a little more specific. That option is for people with your mindset. They neither strongly like nor strongly dislike PVP, but see it as part of the game. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

to me indifferant left it open to interpretation that I wouldnt care if it was taken away. I would care. _________________ Mellie Amresh says, "Send someone with a bigger dick."

I suppose I should have added the 'neccesary evil' option. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Sign me up for the Neccesary Evil option, and the can't wait option.

i dont think it is something we need and have to accept, good or bad, i think it is something that should be a valid possibility.
i'm all for it, but that doesn't mean i'm going to go on a killing spree of newbies. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I like PvP and think it's taking way too long to return, but it's certainly not a deciding factor in whether I play. _________________ ** The phrase "break a leg" just wasn't ambitious enough for Mellie Knight. [8:31 pm]

Let me say that as a staff member PvP is a MUCH better alternative than anything short of setting rules about what you can and cannot do and where you can and cannot do it. It allows YOU the players to police yourselves and take care of problem players, annoyances, e.t.c. This keeps ME from having to come and mediate everytime two players have an argument, or someone violates the "rules" and allows me to spend more of my time making pretty clothes for myself. Err....I mean, designing areas, and adding to the roleplay environment. _________________ If there is one thing in the world that I know, love conquers all, it trancends time and space, defies all odds, and can bring you back from the darkness, it is the guiding light that helps bring you in from the rough stormy seas of life, and it remains even after you have gone.

I actually think it allows several players to police everyone else. I don't find PvP to be fair. The older players with the combat primary characters get to make the rules. I know for a fact that as soon as PvP comes out, I'm staying hidden in some place I can forage for a few weeks until everyone gets it out of their system. Kit's not a bad level, but he's not stealthy and he'll never hold up against half the jerks out there that will be a little trigger happy. I'm really hoping that the justice system will curb PvP abuse....otherwise...yeah. HR will become a lot less fun if I have to worry about pissing off the high level PvPers. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

Although it's been said before, the greater percentage of PKills don't originate from the upper echelon; they come from lower levels and, more often, the low-to-mids. _________________ Mickey Brunner
