Haven't heard from Drake in awhile about new gadgets...so here, some more ideas that other professions might actually want from us. Comms and flashlights aren't really desired at the moment it seems.

Agent
1. Digial trap detection devices. These can 'display' the type of traps, perhaps showing on a screen the mechanism of the traps (like internals cameras surgeons use). It would give a bonus to disarming because the picker could see the internal workings of the trap.
2. Digital code reader. Traps should be getting more technologically based. Instead of normal locks, why not have digital locks with codes? The code reader would slowly pick out the code used by the lock.
3. Nightvision goggles. For breaking and entering.
4. Smart bombs. These digital devices could have a set timer to go off.
5. Concealed cameras and weapons. I'm thinking 007 here, agents more as suave spy types then common theives.

Artisan
1. Gem/stone tumbler. Make those gems shiny for jewelry making!
2. Handheld fusing machine. Create seamless articles with this machine. Threads and needles are so...old fashioned. This would also make tailoring times more realistic.
3. Artificial jewel maker. Make artifical gems! Synthetic diamonds are all the rage these days.
4. Electronic sharpener. Sharpen knives and tools for woodworking.
5. Welding tools. For when metal working comes out, having blowtorches and welders would be much needed.

Guardian
I can't actually imagine what a guardian would use. They're all about the pristine body.

Mage
Magic and technology just doesn't work correctly when used together. If anything, technicians should find a way to copy the affects of magic with technology. As someone that can't use spells, but has the knowledge of making machines run and work well, it shouldn't be too difficult to see technicians as the makers of the technological equivalent of spells. I won't suggest teleportation devices again because no one's too keen on those and mages/psionics/performers/trackers already HAVE teleportation magics, but weapons that work like offensive spells (consuming cloud, lightning bolt) shouldn't be too hard to make when we have the technology to make hands that can't be detected as being false (synth skin coverings) and work BETTER then real hands (coordination chips). A device that works like Null Gravity might be fun too.

Medic
Medics are technological wizards in their own rights. Making medical equiptment is something I've always wanted to do.

Mercenary
1. Tracking devices. If you're stealthy enough to put this on someone and you have a handheld unit that can read the signal, this would work sort of like the tracker's tracking ability crossed with the locating ability. You could perhaps get readings of the general area the person is in, or the device can blip every few minutes to give updates of where the person is in comparrison of where you are.
2. Netting weapons. These don't hurt the person Mercs are capturing. They just bundle them up neatly for dragging elsewhere. If they're electrical, maybe they can stun the person being netted as well. Netted persons/creatures should have a way of fighting their way out of the net.

Performer
1. Keyboards, electric guitars, synthisizers. Making digital musical instruments could be interesting.
2. Amps. Portable amplifiers, or ones that can be attached to some instruments would be neat too. Maybe they could give bonuses.

Psionic
1. Spiritual detection devices. I know almost nothing about psionics...it's one of the few professions I haven't played, so I'm going on my own assumptions here. Detection devices could be used to 'see' where rips in dimensions are. It would make summoning servants easier and show where wards would best be placed.

Tracker
1. Bows. Making more complex box with digital memory, upgraded scopes, or 'heat seeking' arrows could be interesting. Instead of having wooden bows and arrows, artisans could craft the weapon itself, and techs could outfit it with everything a tracker might need.
2. Netting guns (see mercs)
3. Electronic animal traps. The traps themselves would be made by trackers, but a detection device that could be incorporated into it would be tech-made. Outfitting sensors/cameras/electronic trapping mechanisms would give tracker trapping a more hi-tech feel.

Trooper
Troopers are already hi-tech. I would like to be able to have techs make/service the things the troopers have in their shop. I'm not so sure how likely that will happen though.

If amps can be constructed, I want them to be like this:

Only, you know, a lot better. This is the future, afterall.

I'm sure by 'better' you meant 'needing to be repaired after every 10 songs.'

I seriously hope not. Repairing is the worst part (for me) about being a tech. I'd rather build stuff.

The first sentence in the paragraph pretty much hits the nail on the head; no way would I make digital synth amps.

Already in the works.

From what I understand, and I'm sure another GM will correct me if I'm wrong, Trackers already get a better bonus crafting archery weapons/archery ammunition than Artisans do. It's one of the few places (in crafting) they truly excel. So while I could possibly see Techs providing 'upgrades', the item itself would be just as likely to be crafted by a Tracker as an Artisan.

Sad But the normal (good) ones are so bulky.

I haven't done much with gadgets for the past couple weeks cause I've been working on other stuff. Wink Once this other stuff is done, I'll check out the results of the questionnaire and go from there.
