You want something for low-level chars to salvage. Therefore, they should hunt something small. Mechanical gnats. Ha ha. Also: the absurdity of high-level players creating new chars to farm said mechanical gnats. |
Yes, because on a free account with only one slot i plan on deleting my 24th level agent to make a tech to play with gadgets.

or lower level robots could, logically, be made with crappier parts.
so while a tech could make a gadget using low level parts, it won't be as good as if they took the time to fight something bigger and tougher for the really good stuff. |
The concept of lower level technicians being able to enjoy salvaging
must seem absolutely absurd!
When i picked up poison it wasn't doing so with the thought of making
black vial. it was the joy of creating my own poison and applying it.
It's disparaging to see the idea shot down immediatly because people
are more worried about how it could benefit/harm them then the actual
profession the system was geared towards. _________________ >You allow Stilldawn to undress you. |

you must have missed the part where i agreed, but also pointed out that it wouldn't be fair if all levels of robots had the same parts. bigger robots should have better parts. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

Yes bigger is always better, and the smallest robots created even today
are barely held together with 200mph tape, rusty bolts
and are powered by gerbils in hamster wheels. _________________ >You allow Stilldawn to undress you. |

...and those small robots aren't low quality, and those small robots wouldn't be easy to fight.
weak robots (weak = low level not weak = tiny) would be made from parts that are worse than good (good = hard not good = big) robots. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

If only the big robots did have better parts. When I did hunt the drones, I found mostly average to poor quality stuff. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

well, in all fairness, those robots are only average when it comes to the range of level 1-100. big, to me, would be 80+ _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I think that would probably be 80+.

They kill me nice and easy, release gas that stuns, ranged attacks, the building can trap them and you and the same room so you can't escape, they set you on fire...oh yeah. Not fun at all to hunt. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

i did some thinking on this, and
if the salvage system was set up anything like the treasure system
getting super components would be as hard as finding u.r.s in chiths
whereas finding a good component wouldnt be too difficult.
hoppers and %'s however it works, with a sliding scale
would help curb farming and open up this system to the lower levels. _________________ >You allow Stilldawn to undress you. |

yeah but you're also average in terms of the 1-100 scale. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

I don't really as big a deal as some people are trying to make here.
The salvage system, as originally conceived, was intended to reward technicians who put in the effort to make it high enough up the combat ladder, and are willing to take the risks (it is NOT an easy hunting area) with an increased number of gadget parts.
This never really took anything away from lower-level technicians, who can still find gadget parts at the usual rate, and aren't really going to have the demand/use for higher level parts that the upper technicians will have.
Keep in mind that most of the parts found while salvaging aren't the highest-class parts, which most technicians at this level are going to be looking for. That means that a large percentage of these parts are either going to be thrown away or sold to a technician willing to make friends and spend money. _________________ HR-Marduk
