instead of using marks pulse is a viable option
no jamming, less ammo weight (cores hold a zillion shots, not literally)
the downside is recharge time and certain critters get affected differantly
by differant core types.
two heavy pulse guns make for a nice kill factor
just a thought from a pulse toting agent. _________________ >You allow Stilldawn to undress you. |

pulse is notably weaker than marks, though, at least appraisal-wise. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

appraisalwise maybe but it still does the job, i'd say come hunting with me sometime but you'd prolly get bored so:
>fire hunt head
Siezing a perfect moment, you fire a greyish-green gridgun with black accents at a koru hunter. You land a fair hit to his head as a koru hunter fails to dodge the attack.
... a shot misses!
... a shot misses!
... a shot misses!
... a shot misses!
[You are fairly well balanced, healthy, and well rested.]
Roundtime: 1 sec.
>fire hunt head
Taking a chance on a tricky shot, you fire a greyish-green gridgun with black accents at a koru hunter. Mercilessly, you land a slight hit to his neck as a koru hunter fails to dodge the attack.
... another shot hits a koru hunter in the right foot!
... another shot hits a koru hunter in the right leg!
A koru hunter reels and falls flat on his back!
... a shot misses!
... a shot misses!
[You are fairly well balanced, healthy, and well rested.]
Roundtime: 1 sec.
>fire hunt head
Hoping to make the best of a poor shot, you fire a greyish-green gridgun with black accents at a koru hunter. Somehow, you land a fair hit to his head as a koru hunter fails to dodge the attack.
... Critical strike!
A koru hunter collapses with a cry, dead.
[You are fairly well balanced, healthy, and well rested.]
Roundtime: 1 sec.
>
You feel fully rested.
>look hunt
Very tall and muscular, the koru are organized hunters. Their dark skin and hair adapt them well to stalking and hunting in the forest. They usually use animal pelts for clothing and hunt with spears.
A koru hunter has a completely destroyed head, a slightly scuffed neck, a slightly scuffed right leg, and a slightly scuffed right foot.
A koru hunter has extreme bleeding from his head.
messy but it gets the job done, those are 5 levels bigger then vy btw
and heavy pulse guns app at good damage when fired
usually when hunting with kiley she gets serious and critical hits from her two guns _________________ >You allow Stilldawn to undress you. |

Yes, but you only need to reload after 5000 shots...and Kit can successfully hunt over 10 levels above his current one...He can kill paladins in three shots, well before they get to melee...not that I do that...why risk hunting SO high above his level when you don't get extra treasure. That's why I don't get people like Autae hunting above their level. It's not like you get more treasure, just more death. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

you do get better treasure, though. the drop rate of the actual box doesn't increase, but the amount of cash/box quality does increase. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

A 200th level creature with a treasure level of x will drop the same kind of box as a 40th level creature if it has x box level as well. _________________ Mickey Brunner

Suggesting to a newbie what to hunt with based on your own equipment and testing is faulty; you're basing your information on comparatively better stats and skills, on differently-statted creatures. A high-level character will whip ass with a weapon that a low-level character will fight like shit using.
Case in point: Twig of Death. _________________ An eye for an eye; but my eye's worth more.

yeah, but as far as i'm aware higher critters generally do give better drops, especially cash wise. i'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but those are exceptions and all.
i know when the drag queens were about, they were dropping ~$80, as do the elite royal guards, and the paladins drop ~$70. _________________ A bright-eyed Thekko Ku Kalla dressed in a dapper sailor suit takes to flight and careers through the air toward the Modan Kucho and slams into him!

That depends on the critter more then the level. Royal guards (lvl 50) vs security guards (lvl 4. Security guards are a slightly lower level and give MUCH better treasure.
Trevor said -- I think to Daedalus -- that you get no treasure benefit to hunt critters better then you. Get 25 more bucks a critter pretty much amounts to nothing. I think Trevor also said somewhere that level isn't as much of a factor in treasure as what the creature was designed to give. Royal guards just give crappy treasure.
If I take Kit to hunt in the fen (the highest thing there is 40 levels below him...) I can't find a lot of treasure boxes, just loose treasure. I find almost the same amount of wealth on a 30 minute hunting trip in guards as I do in the fen. Number of kills differs, but it just goes to show how crappy guard treasure is. _________________ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" -- Adam Savage

I hunt above my level, because ...
1) I can.
2) It fills my mind faster.
3) Better chance of getting something good ... I guess.
4) I like a challenge.
And I've yet to die hunting around 20 levels above me. I rarely get hit, actually. But that's just because those paladins are weak. _________________
